Your strange voyage of the last few months continues, Taurus. Communication and learning are emphasized now, as you struggle somewhat to understand the changes in your worldview that are coming down upon you, while also questioning your very identity, along with your beliefs and attitudes, from the standpoint of who you are at the very core of your being. Family is hugely important now, and issues there are the subject of intense inner exploration. Partners come into this picture as well, bringing a mystical and optimistic point of view to bear on your situation. In addition to feeling the pull of new adventures, by the timing of the Lunar Eclipse of July 16th, you will be aware also of the inherent limitations in pursuing them, as you consider more fully expressing yourself and all that you hold inside. The answer comes to you best by consulting your intuition; in any case it must come from aligning yourself with only your own sincere values, independent of the attitudes of others.
The following was written by our resident monthly columnist Adam Elenbaas of The Nightlight Astrology School
July begins astrologically with a Solar Eclipse happening on July 2nd, taking place in the sign of Cancer in your third house of communication, neighbors, siblings, and the mind. This Solar Eclipse announces the growth or development of your mental and emotional paradigm in the weeks and months ahead. You may also be utilizing new forms of technology, learning a new language or studying a new subject, or generally going through something of a mental and communicative transformation. Whatever the case might be, these changes will require you to give deeper emotional attention to your immediate environment, transforming it into a sweeter and more nurturing place.
Between July 7th and 9th, Mercury in Leo will conjoin with Mars in your fourth house of home, family, and property, just as Mercury is turning retrograde. This may signal a deeper level of conflict, change, revision, or transformation happening at home, with family members, or even in relation to your property. It’s a good time to revise the most foundational elements of your life, those patterns and structures that support you at the deepest levels, but don’t be surprised if there are delays or setbacks in the process. You should also watch for power struggles and the potential for bossy or domineering energies to pervade the home atmosphere at this time.
Between July 9th and 16th, the Sun in Cancer in your third house of communication and the mind will move through oppositions to both Saturn and Pluto in your ninth house of beliefs, spirituality, and long journeys. Then, on July 16th, a Lunar Eclipse will fall in Capricorn in your ninth house, bringing these dynamic energies to a head. With this eclipse, you might be experiencing a crisis of faith, or you may be completing or deepening your engagement with a teacher, a long journey, an educational path, or a philosophical or spiritual commitment. Don’t be surprised if you are experiencing a crisis of confidence or if you are lacking certainty about the future right now. It may be a good idea to call on elders, teachers, parents, or those who have walked a similar path. You may even find that you are having to make important decisions while considering a set of conflicting values or beliefs.
From July 16th to the 21st, your planetary ruler, Venus, in Cancer, will re-activate the same themes, as the goddess passes through oppositions to Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn in the ninth house. Beginning with the highlighted moment of the Lunar Eclipse itself, which features Venus in partile or same-degree opposition to Saturn, implying that this stern taskmaster energy will play a powerful role for you, for the remainder of the month, signaling both limitation, perhaps including feelings of frustration, and as well a determination to get things right, no matter how many times it takes to accomplish that. Your ruler opposite Pluto will also invoke similar themes to those described above for the Sun’s pasing through that thick tangle of underbrush.
As transformative and intense as the eclipses are this month, it is also worth noting that Venus’ oppositions will be in some ways, also a warm welcome, signifying opportunities for mental, emotional, spiritual, and communicative healing and harmony. It’s easy during intense seasons in our life to forget that the real test of our beliefs and ideas, our words and our thoughts, is the compass of our heart and the emotional mirror of our relationships. Venus may thus bring a deeper emotional intelligence into the mix, clarifying the changes happening and reinforcing the need for lover and tenderness.
Finally, on July 31st, the New Moon in Leo will land in your fourth house of home, family and roots, conjunct Venus in Leo, while both will make squares to Uranus in your home sign of Taurus. The month ahead will feature a breakthrough that is both personal and familial, both physical and domestic, related at once to your ancestry and the past, as well as to something new that is being born in the present moment. Considering the heaviness of this month’s eclipses, you can be excited that next month’s Moon cycle carries their energies forward with what appears to be a very exciting period of newness and creative dynamism!
