This November is a time of self-study, Sagittarius, with the retrogrades of Venus and – after mid-month – of Mercury leading the way. On the scale of Self Versus Other the needle swings to self. This emphasis on your own identity concept is reinforced by Jupiter, your ruling planet, moving into your sign after the first week, with the Sun to follow on Thanksgiving Day. In terms of personal planning you are at the crossroads; you are being encouraged by the cosmos to go for your deepest values as you look to and act upon your evolving goals. In all this, when you have the ears to listen, your inner world and your intuitional awareness is speaking to you loud and clear. Although you are perhaps in some ways stuck in a rut, the tools are there to remove you from the jail cell of previously ingrained habitual patterns. You have only to open the door that is waiting for your courageous hand on the knob.

The month begins with retrograde Venus entering into the relationship-oriented sign of Libra, corresponding to your eleventh house of plans friends, and group activities, indicating that you may well be reflecting on what these areas of life truly mean for you, while the Leo Moon briefly opposes Mars, still in Aquarius, corresponding to your third house of learning and communication. After rethinking all last summer the way that you connect with others around you, you are still engaged in seeing through your changes there, and trying to better understand them.
Then, on November 7th, the Scorpio New Moon falls in your twelfth house. With Venus having also recently retrograded through your twelfth house in Scorpio, you have been exploring the shadow side of your relationships. This exploration continues this month, though you are ready to turn a big corner and start a new chapter based on what you’ve been learning. You may also be motivated to explore the way that, as you create, you act upon your deepest values, rather on society’s ideas of your proper contribution.
Meanwhile, for much of the month, Venus will be retrograde in the sign of Libra, in your eleventh house of friend and groups, opposite Uranus in Aries in the fifth house of creativity. The exploration of relationships that you have been doing recently may also cover changes or challenges within your social circles, or within the groups or organizations that you belong to. You may notice creative conflicts are surfacing in these settings right now, or you may be finding unique allies or new creative collaborations are suddenly presenting themselves.
Watch especially for what happens in terms of plans and group activities when Venus turns direct on November 17th. This is a good time to initiate changes that you’ve been working through in your social or romantic life since early October when Venus first turned retrograde. Watch also for tensions to climax in groups or social circles on November 30th, when Venus will perfect in her opposition to Uranus, creating a powerful moment of breakthrough and transformation.
On November 8th, your ruling planet, Jupiter, will enter your home sign of Sagittarius and move into your first house for a whole year. This is an incredibly powerful moment of individuation. Over the course of the past year, with Jupiter in Scorpio in your twelfth house, you have been gestating and wrestling with the shadow stuff of the unconscious. Now you are ready to start fresh, grounded in your natural enthusiasm and confidence, and equipped with a new vision for your future. Whether you are starting a new health or diet regiment, launching a new project, moving, or starting a new job or relationship, get ready to ride a wave of accelerated growth. Just remember, this transit only comes around once every twelve years. The last time you had this transit in your first house it was 2006 into 2007. Did you take advantage of the energy last time it came around' It’s important to remember that while this transit will naturally lift you up and offer you many new opportunities to evolve and grow, it can easily be squandered if you do not seize the day and make the most of it. The shadows of this transit are, of course, overindulgence, as well as arrogance of ego inflation, but there is no need to fall into those patterns if you take the lessons of the past year to heart and commit right now to being the highest version of yourself!
On November 15th Mars, the warrior, will change signs and move into Pisces in your fourth house of home and family after spending most of its time in Aquarius since May. Mars will then square Jupiter in Sagittarius in your first house on November 19th. Just as you are ready to expand and take off personally, you may be tested by challenges at home, with family members, parents, or regarding property. The theme of sacrifice is also in the air right now. You may notice that family members are volunteering to help you with something, or that you are being asked to step in and provide support to someone.
November 17th Mercury turns retrograde in your home sign of Sagittarius in a square to Neptune in the fourth house of home and family. This Mercury Retrograde period in your first house, toned by Neptune, suggests that you are moving through a period of trying to clarify your sense of personal direction, especially as it relates to your home, family, or property, in the weeks ahead. You may not be seeing everything clearly right now, so try to be as discerning as possible, and be sure to keep good boundAries with your family members or around issues related to your living environment. The clarity you are seeking will come in time, but it’s critical that you exercise patience so that you can receive the messages the Universe is trying to send you right now.
Finally, November 22nd into the 23rd, the Full Moon in Gemini in your seventh house of relationships opposes the Sun and Jupiter in Sagittarius in your first house of “self,” while also creating a t-square with Mars in Pisces in your fourth house of home and family. The month closes out with the spotlight on your relationships. While it’s clear from Jupiter’s entrance in your home sign that you are ready to launch into a new version of yourself, pressure from your intimate relationships, and/or the home environment are immediately testing your resolve and asking that you be patient and decisive in the way that you take your first big steps forward. Hang in there. It often takes a little time to find the right balance. Remember that while you are naturally a freedom-loving individualist, your life is also a delicate eco-system, and the changes you are going through will naturally catalyze changes in others around you, which you will need to be patient for if you are to get the most out of this auspicious time in your life!
