Aries Horoscope for January 2025

This January month, Aries, is a rather magical one, when the surface layers of your psyche may represent the least prominent part of the story. Most significantly, Mars, your ruler, in retrograde motion throughout, is scheduled to back away from fellow Fire sign Leo into Cancer by the 6th, so that up to then you will be looking to the inside and exploring questions of identity and self-expression as you do. Cancer corresponds to your sector of home and family and, as well, your psychological roots. These last three weeks of January might therefore be an even more introspective time for you than the first six days. From the 1st to the 6th is very intense as well because Mars is closely opposed to transformational Pluto. Then the Moon’s First Quarter in your sign, also on the 6th, conjuncts Chiron, the Wounded Healer, and this potentially brings any residue of inner wounding, based on the traumas of early childhood, more firmly into the picture. A week later, the Cancer Full Moon of the 13th represents another very impactful timing for you, with mystical surprises and with also a determination on your part to make the most of your time on planet Earth and to allow significant movement toward what you can conceive as your soul intention for this lifetime.

As we enter a new month and a new year, we linger in the thirty-day window of the Capricorn New Moon from December 30th. This could see the beginning of your 2025 oriented around your goals. You might marvel at how far you’ve come on a path to success, taking what works into your future.

However, with your ruler, Mars, in retrograde, you could be more comfortable with a slow start. Poised at 2º of fiery Leo in the New Moon, the red planet opposes Pluto, newly in Air sign Aquarius. Integrating into society, a network, or your social scene may be a pressing issue, yet frustrations could arise around this as well. Transformation of your very identity is possible. Friends or community could be unresponsive to your creativity or resist your sense of fun and what you want to do. Challenges may be particularly apparent when your energy is devoted to passion projects, children, your own inspiration, or alternatively, when there’s something you’re determined to enjoy.

Monday the 6th sees a change of pace, as Mars in backward motion enters watery Cancer, or your sector of home and family, so you might revisit property issues or sensitive topics from October and early November 2024. Also on the 6th, you encounter the Moon’s First Quarter, with the Moon conjunct Chiron, the Wounded Healer, in your sign, while Mercury in Sagittarius clashes in a square aspect with numinous and compassionate Neptune. You may benefit from taking a pause; remnants of inner wounding could come up, as a warning indicator and as a prelude to begin healing these issues. Partners are connected to your own dream imagination and unconscious process. With Mercury-Neptune, logic and articulating ideas with clarity doesn’t come naturally, and your imagination could be quite strong.

On the 8th, Mercury enters Capricorn and your mental focus turns to matters of career and profession.

On the 11th (at 9 pm PST) the North Node enters Pisces, signaling the eclipses shifting toward this sign and Virgo. There’s considerable emphasis on the water and earth elements. It’s wise to rely on your emotional sensibilities and empathic tendencies both at work and at home. Venus, your planet of money and relationships, spends January in your twelfth house of unconscious process, suggesting your practical purpose and interpersonal endeavors with partners may be shrouded in mystery. Perhaps you’ll find yourself devoted to acts of service, being useful, and supporting others. With the additional factor of Mars in retrograde, instead of entering 2025 full throttle, it could benefit you to try taking the pressure off.

On January 13th, the Cancer Full Moon culminates, forming a conjunction to Mars, with Mars himself closely trine Neptune. This Full Moon lands in your home and family sector, and so is lighting up private interests, personal security, and who you are behind closed doors. You benefit from finding your place among family, in domestic spaces, and by identifying where you hail from, literally or figuratively. This lunation speaks to you, in particular, of harmony with Neptune and Uranus, suggesting that matters of your identity are shifting in an ethereal direction, and that you are well-suited to lean into practices or ways of being that are healing, while also making a personal contribution that’s valuable to those around you. In this Full Moon, Venus in Pisces squares Jupiter in Gemini, suggesting a sensitivity toward interpersonal dynamics, which could apply for the rest of the month. Values and financial resources are perhaps a bit up in the air and could yet land beneficially.

On the 15th, the Capricorn Sun opposes Mars and trines Neptune. On the one hand you could be advancing, visible, involved, gaining attention in public. On the other, you might require time out, to rest and recoup away from the spotlight. Try to be present around your career or for commendation, yet know when attention is best directed inwardly, toward household matters.

The Sun enters Aquarius on the 19th, signaling a period to honor teamwork and your friendship circle. Look for opportunities to participate and socialize yet note there could be figures that are potentially dominating or calling the shots, as the Sun is immediately conjunct Pluto.

On the 21st, the Last Quarter Moon in Scorpio could prompt you to pull back, retreating to a safe space, with a preference for isolation and intimate relationships. Meanwhile, you could find it’s vital to acknowledge the world and its people, so that you will need to find a balance.

The New Moon on January 29th conditions the following thirty days, into the February month. This New Moon facilitates a more direct connection with local environments, perhaps groups you favor, social networks, and your future plans. Because Mercury teams up with Pluto in the New Moon, there may be inroads to connect with striking figures in your orbit, or to talk with potentially insightful, probing folk. In February you may look forward to deeper affiliations with those you find yourself around.
