Virgo Horoscope for April 2018

This is a month that is entirely concerned with your relationship with important partners, Virgo, and yet is still all about your own desires and needs. Because Mercury, planetary ruler of your sign, is retrograding through your sector of intimacy, you are both somewhat stymied by this significant area of life and yet also drawn to discovering further facets of it. All this month you are deep-diving, exploring with verve and determination your own depths, and the depths of others. In part, you are delving into secret places within that hold your essentially wounded nature, the residue of early childhood trauma; and in this you are in the same boat as all who are human. By unlocking the door to the cave, and allowing your dark places to flow into the light, you begin a healing process that desires to happen. Following your intuition leads you into some unexpectedly bizarre adventures that are, simultaneously, strangely enlightening.

The following was written by this month's guest columnist Adam Elenbaas of The Nightlight Astrology School

The new month begins just after a Full Moon in your second house of money, and possessions, putting the spotlight on tensions, challenges, or changes in relation to your finances or to your material possessions, expenditures, values, and resources. Mars and Saturn in conjunction in your fifth house as the month begins make it difficult to get things going, although you will have the stamina and the commitment to see these difficulties through.

Meanwhile, Venus has just entered Taurus and moved in your ninth house of religion, higher education, and long journeys and between April 7th and 11th will make trines to both Saturn and Mars in Capricorn in your fifth house of pregnancy, children, pleasure, and creativity. Though you are naturally concerned with purity, cleanliness, and service to others, this transit is asking you to reflect on the connection between your higher beliefs or philosophical commitments and the things you do for fun or pleasure. Are you too strict? Not strict enough? Do you hold up standards of purity publicly but rebel from the same standards privately? One of the life lessons for Virgos is to discover the difference between holistic purity and rigidity. This transit may also involve creative projects or your children, as well as the general connection between creativity or children and faith or beliefs, in general.

Late in the evening of April 10th and into April 11th the Sun in Aries in your eighth house of transformation, death/rebirth, and shared resources will make a square to Pluto in your fifth house of children, creativity, and recreation. The connection between pleasure and karmic penalties is pronounced right now, so be careful that you aren’t indulging in things that are unhealthy as the karmic penalties may be more severe than you expect. At the same time, if fear tends to hold you back from healthy experiences of joy, pleasure, or creativity, then this transit may force you to confront and release your fears so that you can experience greater joy. There may also be intense changes or confrontation taking place in relation to shared finances or debt, as well as in relation to your children (or children in general).

April 15th to 18th the Sun in Aries will conjoin with the rebellious and unpredictable Uranus in Aries in your eighth house of transformation, death and rebirth, shared resources, and karmic penalties, exact just days after a New Moon in Aries on April 15th. Here we see the potential for unexpected challenges or changes in your partnership, specifically around the subject of money or finances. It may be that your partner is going to change occupations, get a promotion, or leave their job. Or it could be that you are being forced to address challenges around responsibilities or shared duties in relationships. This is a transit that emphasizes individuality, rebellion, and personal freedom. Given that it is taking place in your eighth house don’t be surprised if you are looking for the right balance between one’s personal freedom and shared obligations. This is also a great time to face your fears or to support others who are desiring to break free and face their own fears. If there unhealthy co-dependencies in your life, expect that they will be challenged.

Between April 16th and 17th, Venus in Taurus in your ninth house of religion, higher education, and long journeys will oppose Jupiter in Scorpio in your third house of siblings, communication, and short journeys. There is a real emphasis on your connection to spiritual or philosophical issues, as well as the subject of communication in your relationships (perhaps in relation to siblings, as well). An opposition from the benefic planets is a good thing, and in this case, it likely means that you are thinking about or discussing your beliefs and ideas more openly than usual with others. As a Virgo you are generally talkative, but you may also tend to be more critical, nervous, fussy, or judgmental. This transit therefore encourages you to see the good, find the good, speak the good, and share the good with those around you. You are also being encouraged to cultivate greater trust and faith in the world around you, by sharing and revealing more of who you are with the world around you. You may be pleasantly surprised to find that people are very ready to love and embrace you for exactly who you are, faults and imperfections included!

Finally, on April 26th, Mars will conjoin with Pluto in your fifth house of pregnancy, children, and creativity or pleasure. Again, if you are in the habit of indulging in anything that is self-destructive, this transit is a red flag. There may be consequences for reckless behavior right now. On the other hand, if you are in the midst of a creative project or process, then you may find that are extra motivated or finding a deeper level of intensity and focus available to you. If you have children, then don’t be surprised if they are encountering some powerful transformations this month, or if your relationship is challenged or transformed. Mars and Pluto together represent catharsis, but you have to be very careful. As a Virgo you are prone to a disaster mentality when stressed out. Try to focus on the idea that you are ultimately not in control of very much in life and try to remember that when changes come they are always easier to manage when we let go of our ideas about how things “should be” and instead accept things the way that they are.
