This is a wild month for you, Taurus, with multiple inner planet retrogrades to add uncertainty and an introspective flair, as well as a prominent Uranian influence in your sign which stresses the benevolent influence of deep-seated intuition. You are engaged in mulling over issues of worldview along with explorations of higher mind, to include travel or educational plans that might seem to go awry in unexpected ways that could ultimately turn out for the best. Everything is somewhat up in the air for you now, while your inner world of dream imagination is also quite active, so that it might be an excellent time to keep a journal by your bed to record night-time visitations. The Full Moon of January 6th takes place in your communication sector, and the New Moon of January 21st represents another significant juncture, bringing career issues to a different stage with an angle for taking greater responsibility in new ways. These may include trying to take seriously some subtle ideas that lie below the surface layers of your psyche and yet compel you to action. This is in doing what seems right by means of strictly your own internal standards.
The following was written by our resident monthly columnist Elodie St-Onge Aubut of Ninth House Astrology
The focus at the beginning of the year, in the light of the recent Capricorn Solstice, could be on the big picture and broader frameworks that help you make sense of your world. You are also living simultaneously in unconscious realms below the surface layers of your psyche, As you reflect upon this ended year, you may feel nostalgic for days gone by and the simplicity of the past, while getting ready also to meet the future. January can bring perspective to members of your sign, yet also the need to update some of your ideas or framework to keep up with the changes and opportunities that could be coming your way. This month you might come to realize how much your philosophy and your beliefs have changed in the past few years and how much new perspectives actually shape your current experience.
With Mercury also retrograde in Capricorn as the year begins, you could be questioning nearly everything while yet willing to work hard to actualize your true vision. January could have a contemplative undertow as you rethink your approaches, and refine your work and your overall trajectory. Yet new terrain can be conquered in your career if you play your cards right.
On the evening of the 2nd your ruling planet Venus enters Aquarius highlighting ambitions and artistic endeavors. It may be easier to gain attention for your work at this time. From the 3rd through the 5th, and a sextile from Venus to Jupiter in Aries could help you understand things that are usually difficult to translate.
The Full Moon in Cancer takes place on January 6th in your communication sector while your unconscious process continues to be emphasized. The Full Moon forms a supportive aspect to Uranus in your sign which may highlight an innovative medium you have been using to share your ideas or your work. Mercury is still moving retrograde in Capricorn and conjuncts the Sun in the Full Moon which can emphasize a tension between the rational and the emotional. You might feel the need to infuse something technical with more soul and the next morning after the Full Moon could bring insights as to how to do that.
Venus in Aquarius comes into a supportive trine with Mars in Gemini, on the 9th and 10th, just before Mars stations direct on the 12th. You might be able to see a career or financial opportunity from a different angle which in turn could allow you to better position yourself for the year ahead. However, with Mercury still moving retrograde in Capricorn, you might feel unsure of the viability of an idea.
Mercury turns direct in Capricorn on the 18th, and then finally escapes its retrograde shadow in February. New perspectives can thus arise in the following month.
On the 18th, also, the Sun meets Pluto in Capricorn emphasizing beliefs and ideologies; these are in important transition. It can also be hard to make you change your mind at this time, or you could feel ambitious and uncompromising.
The Sun enters Aquarius on the 20th and you might feel the shift in the energy. You public statement out in the world becomes a more significant focus.
The New Moon in Aquarius arrives a day later on January 21st, in the part of your chart that relates to your vocation, career, and public standing. This New Moon is again supported by Jupiter in Aries making this an excellent time to meditate on themes related to your goals. You may be feeling quite ambitious right now and Venus conjunct Saturn in Aquarius in the New Moon could highlight the ongoing investments you have been making in a career path. Uranus, slowing and turning direct in Taurus, and therefore emphasized, could emphasize your desire to stand out from the crowd and an uncompromising need for autonomy.
On the 26th, your ruling planet Venus enters Pisces which might help soften your edges a little bit and bring connectivity and increased interactions with others in the coming weeks.
The end of the month comes with a mixture of supportive and challenging aspects. The First Quarter Moon in Taurus on the 28th may bring logistical issues that could potentially derail your schedule. Then, from January 28th to the 30th, the Sun in Aquarius forms a trine with Mars in Gemini and with the new planet Makemake in Libra, which could nudge you toward a different sense of purpose for what you do out in the world. Mercury in Capricorn is also trine with Uranus in Taurus which may bring surprise information or new perspectives to your sense of who you are, heading into the next month.
