This is a fascinating month for you, Sagittarius, with strong outer planet indications of personal transformation and with close aspects to Jupiter, your ruler, located in your sector of daily routines and service to others. One thing that might come up, related to your day-today habits and health regimens, is some concept of internal tranquility and staying rooted in what is deeply true for you, beyond all else. What is also showing up is a powerful feeling of connection to Nature, either expressed as a yen for natural surroundings, or as an inner sense of moral compass, of telling the truth and doing the right thing. This comes into play along with your meditations regarding career or perhaps your primary partnerships, especially in the timing of the August 16th New Moon. Mercury is also slowing down midmonth, preparing to retrograde in your career sector on August 23rd. All the way through to the end of September you could find yourself re-thinking professional obligations – as well as the key relationships in your life. As you review the alignment between outer profession and your own inner truth, what will also be affected as you evolve will be your sense of doing the right thing – to the best extent of which you are capable.
The following was written by our guest columnist Elodie St-Onge Aubut of Ninth House Astrology
As the month begins, you are still feeling the influence of the recent Cancer New Moon, its having taken place in your sector of intimacy and personal evolution and still playing out into the current month. This continues to be an entirely transformative time, continuing from July, with the mandate upon you to let go of certain habits that while they might be difficult to let go of, are no longer relevant to your evolving state of consciousness. Your timing on this eventual result is, of course, your own, although the recommendation might be that “there is no time like the present” to get started.
The Aquarius Full Moon taking place on August 1st represents the halfway point in this recent Cancer New Moon cycle, and represents the fulfillment of some part of what your soul had planned to initiate in that earlier timing. This Full Moon could highlight your skill set and the ways in which your entourage benefits from your know-how. One usually needs time and space to test out one’s most ambitious concepts and you may have been trying out new methods without having the time to think about it first. If so, this time period could highlight this tension between hypothesis and process. As you enter August, you also might have been feeling somewhat restless, with a need for adventure and vast horizon to set your sights; do not despair on this idea even though your obligations could be catching up with you.
In this Full Moon as well, Mercury in Virgo opposes Saturn in Pisces, which may over the two weeks that follow reinforce this feeling of responsibilities at home and at work. This also highlights the need to catch up with ongoing projects or prioritize them to create a little more time for yourself, in order to enliven some of your burdens. Mars in Virgo forming a trine with Jupiter in Taurus in this Full Moon promises that progress can be made by taking tangible actions although you must keep the ball rolling if you want this momentum to last.
The Sun and Venus in retrograde motion are both transiting in Leo as August gets underway. This energizes your personal fires and the need to grow beyond the status quo. Jupiter in Taurus, on the other hand, aspected by the Sun and Moon in this Full Moon, emphasizes your immediate reality, including your health, and your need to stick to routine if you are to see yourself through the projects that you already have in motion. This tension continues to be felt through the second week of August, up to the 16th, at least, as you try to reconcile your need for adventure with the demands of your daily life.
From the 6th to the 7th, the Sun in Leo squares Jupiter in Taurus, which is your ruler, and highlighted. You might feel the contrast between freedom of thought and constraint to a practical task, or between thinking and doing.
As Venus conjoins the Sun in Leo on the 13th, the pull to broaden your horizon and inject your experience with new possibilities continues to be felt, and you may experience a moment of clarity or a perspective that revives your wanderlust.
The Leo New Moon arrives three days later on August 16th, a representing a fresh start in the sector of your chart that relates to travel, education, and the eternal quest for meaning. Trickster Uranus is closely square the New Moon indicating surprises or unexpected revelations, and an attitude of taking up an exciting and unusual life mission. This period, initiating as it does a new cycle for learning or traveling and for expanding your intellectual horizons, could be throwing a monkey wrench is what was previously a stable situation that had lost its luster. With some logistical planning you may be able to move through current roadblocks and bring more of what you are passionate about into the equation.
This New Moon also forms a supportive aspect to Chiron in Aries, indicating that inner wounding could come up in some way for you, perhaps relating to romantic attractions or also in connection with your creative impulses which might be being side-tracked as you deal with dark places within your psyche. Your beliefs about what reality is and what is possible for you are directly linked to your ability to transcend hesitations and feelings of lack, or perhaps of low self-esteem, that were engendered long ago in early childhood. Breakthrough could allow you to open to pleasure and to get beyond stale aspects of your philosophical framework that fails to inform your everyday life in accessing broader possibilities.
The Sun enters Virgo on the 23rd and Mercury stations retrograde on the same day which makes this Season particularly process-oriented with an emphasis on organizational and logistical issues that need sorting out. Mercury will be retrograde in Virgo for the next three weeks, and then recovering for two weeks beyond that, all the way to September 29th. This is an opportunity to tackle recurring issues at work and at home so that you have a better understanding of your workload and schedule.
The Moon’s First Quarter in your sign, on the 24th , indicates some tension in the working out of these arrangements, and an opportunity to find solace in your sense of your life mission, strong in you at this time with Jupiter, your ruler, highlighted in your sixth house of service, and of Discipleship to your Higher Self, as Rudhyar termed it.
On the 26th and 27th, the Sun in Virgo forming an opposition with Saturn in Pisces continues to emphasize your obligations and responsibilities in both public and private realms, and the need for balance between the two.
The Pisces Full Moon on the 30th really drives this home. There may be a need for greater harmony between your natural way of doing things versus the pressure that comes from your obligations and the solution once again may lie in your ability to sort out the essential and get to the bottom of what your heart truly desires.
