You are still enrolled in the adventure, Pisces. Your life is in the midst of undeniable flux, and the major question seems to be: What can you learn from it all? You are faced with challenges and the reward is greater understanding. Self-definition and better knowledge of your own depths remain as major themes, while future plans continue to morph dramatically in correspondence to your evolving worldview. Your finances and, more significantly, your values have been the subject of unexpected transition and review/revision over the past several weeks, as Mercury has been completing its retrograde through your resources sector. During May’s second half, communication and novel learning are the keynotes. You are emerging from this time with plenty of useful energy for moving yourself forward in new ways. You are not entirely abandoning what has gone before; instead you seek a new and more inclusive, and thus more practical, amalgam of past and present – wrapped up into one whole.
The following was written by this month's guest columnist Adam Elenbaas of The Nightlight Astrology School
Astrologers have been writing about and anticipating the month of May 2018 for a long time now, and that is because the planet Uranus is about to change signs and enter Taurus after eight long years of being in the sign of Aries. This transition is taking place on May 15th, at the same time as the New Moon in Taurus, and just as Mars enters Aquarius and makes an immediate square to Uranus. In addition to these powerful transits, the planet Chiron has also recently left your home sign of Pisces and has now moved into Aries to stay for the next eight or more years. Let’s explore each of these transits, in depth.
Let’s start with Chiron. Last month on April 17th, the planet Chiron, known as “the Wounded Healer,” left your first house and home sign of Pisces after eight long years. During this time, you have been going through a very deep level of personal healing and growth. Chiron is related to our wounds and the wisdom of our wounds, and so this period has been characterized by an intense immersion into your psychic, emotional, and physical health. The first house is also the starting place of the chart, which means you have also been experiencing an extended season of newness. For example, with this kind of transit, people might get married or have kids or start a new job or relocate (all “new” beginning type of events), but these new beginnings may have been simultaneously wrapped up in a very deep exploration of your most challenging personal challenges. For example, you might have moved or started a new job as an attempt to improve your health or wellness. Perhaps falling in love has helped you to grow up or express a healthier version of yourself, or maybe having a child has forced you to take a good long look at your own inner child. As a Pisces, you are naturally sensitive, faithful, and wise when you are at your best. Chiron in your first house can also indicate that you have matured a great deal in the past eight years, perhaps becoming something of a sage or healer yourself.
Now, Chiron is entering your second house of money, resources, and values, where it will begin a long process of helping you to work on healing your relationship with money, self-worth, and material things (from lifestyle issues, to working with the earth or environment!). Chiron in the second house may indicate that you need to do some work around impulse control. When you’re feeling anxious do you tend to spend or consume too much' When you’re feeling insecure, do you tend to worry about money' Whatever the case might be, Chiron in your second house is now introducing the possibility for deep healing around these matters, potentially introducing you to new teachers or mentors who can help you along the way. On the other hand, you may also find that you are being called to teach, mentor or work with others around similar issues. Chiron also represents the impulse to help others heal, but make sure you guard against over-extending yourself. As a Pisces, you have a big heart, but you may sometimes struggle to keep healthy boundAries, losing yourself in the process.
Then, the middle of this month, the planet Uranus is entering your third house of the mind, communication, and siblings. As the planet of disruption, liberation, and awakening enters your third house, prepare to have your mind lit on fire by the tremendously inspiring energy of Uranus. Uranus entering the third house indicates that you are ready to share your thoughts more boldly, forcefully, or rebelliously with others. You might find that you are ready to read, write, or study about something unusual or “outside the norm.” If you tend to be shy, then get ready for a time of accelerated self-expression, especially in terms of how you communicate to others and the world at large your innermost thoughts and values. If you have siblings, then expect that things might be changing dramatically for them, or perhaps in terms of your relationships with them. Uranus tends to disrupt and shock things that are dormant or unconscious back into our conscious awareness, so don’t be surprised if you are suddenly becoming aware of things that you may not have seen or been aware of in the past. Uranus in the third house will also draw your attention to issues of justice, progress, and liberation which as a Pisces you are prone to become emotionally absorbed by. Just remember that this transit is taking place over the course of the next seven to eight years. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time, and allow the inspiration coming into your life right now to find tangible and productive forms of creative expression.
Finally, the same day that Uranus moves into Taurus, May 15th, there is also a New Moon in late Taurus in your third house, and that evening the planet Mars will simultaneously enter Aquarius, squaring Uranus into the 21st of the month. The New Moon adds to the brand-new energy of Uranus moving into third house of the mind, communication and siblings. Meanwhile, Mars entering your twelfth house points to a critical moment of healing, transition, and surrender. The ingress of Mars into your twelfth house will be directly correlated to and amplifying the transformative power of Uranus as it enters your third house. Remember to really take your time with whatever you’re feeling and thinking right now. There is no need to take a stand or rush something before it’s had time to really gestate. It’s a huge month for you Pisces; and remember to keep your eye on the middle days of the month, in particular!
