Astrologically speaking, the January month arrives with the Capricorn New Moon of the 2nd, which signals the beginning of a new thirty-day cycle in relation to your home, your family and your roots. New desires may be emerging about where you want to be in the world. With Jupiter’s entry in the sign of Pisces, January could be the perfect time to declutter your space and make room for more spaciousness and fluidity to flow into your life. The New Moon trines Uranus in Taurus auguring the deeper transformation that might be at work this month especially when it comes to your alliances. You may be craving stimulating and exciting connections with others and you might need to let go of a stale domestic scenario in order to bring forth new opportunities. There may be contracts or a financial arrangement with a family member or a business partner that needs to be revised. There may also be surprising benefits that come when you team up with others so don’t turn down the support that is being offered to you this month. Saturn in Aquarius rules over the New Moon in Capricorn and is currently transiting in your creative sector which considerably slows down the pace at which you can experience the things that you desire. Doing what you love and loving what you do may come at the cost of considerable effort but your labor will not be in vain as lasting results could come from consistency and dedication this month.

Messenger planet Mercury enters Aquarius on the 2nd where it will be for the first two weeks of January before it stations retrograde mid-month. You may be focused on a situation related to your children or the development of a personal project that may need to be revised again in the second half of the month. Progress can be made at this time but with Venus still moving retrograde in Capricorn and Mercury slowing down, this period is best spent revising your priorities. Venus joins the Sun in Capricorn on the 8th for her inferior conjunction. This represents the middle of her retrograde cycle when she passes the Sun on her way to be reborn as a morning star. There may be something that comes to light around that second weekend of January that brings clarification especially in relation to an ongoing domestic scenario. Your family could be on your mind and you may be preoccupied with reconciling your needs with your responsibilities at home.

There could be some logistical issues to contend with on the 10th and the 11th when Mars in Sagittarius squares Neptune in Pisces. This aspect is short-lived; however it could bring some confusion to your carefully laid plans. Communication with others could feel strained so stay flexible and be willing to change your mind at the last minute.

On the 14th, Mercury stations retrograde auguring a three week period of revision especially for things related to romance, creativity or children. You may have to change your approach or perspective to make something work at this time.

The Full Moon culminates in the sign of Cancer on the 17th while opposing the Sun conjunct powerful and transformational Pluto. Your career or aspirations could be highlighted at this time and you may become aware of important changes rumbling under the surface. Your desire to succeed and your ambitions may take center stage for the few days surrounding the Full Moon and you may also be put under the spotlight for your accomplishments.

On the 18th, Uranus stations direct in Taurus just as the Nodal axis also enters Scorpio and Taurus. This is a significant changing of the guard, bringing attention to the part of your chart that relates to your personal and shared resources, especially when the eclipse season of the spring (and later the fall) arrives over the next year and a half.

The Sun enters the Fixed Air sign of Aquarius on January 19th where it highlights your creative and romantic sector for the next month. Mercury Retrograde in Aquarius conjunct the Sun on the 23rd may bring new insights or a helpful perspective in connection with an ongoing project. Keeping an open mind could ensure that you don’t miss the creative or romantic opportunities that may be presenting themselves at this time.

Mars enters Capricorn on the 24th and this will continue to bring attention to your home and domestic life, and could awaken your ambitious side allowing you to take on much more work and pressure especially for projects that require sustained focus. Mars remains in Capricorn until early March.

On the 29th, Venus stations direct in Capricorn, standing dead still in the sky for a time, in aspect to Uranus, and this a significant day for you. The Sun in Aquarius squares Uranus in Taurus. Home and family issues could arise suddenly, or great intuitional leaps can also be made at this time illuminating some aspect of your psychological depths. You may be taking stock of what’s available to you, especially the benefit that comes from any kind of close support network; you might make much of the progress that can be made when you team up with others. Sorting out your priorities is important now, especially as you may feel divided between pleasure and work. Venus will slowly start regaining speed in the coming weeks.
