Thursday’s Pisces Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse the evening of the 27th, at 9:18 PM PT, early morning of the 28th for EDT and points east, at 4° 53’ of Pisces, is another quite powerful lunation configuration, a match for the extremely potent August 12th Solar Eclipse from which we are all – to whatever extent – still reeling. In the case of this follow-up Full Moon eclipse, the zodiacal location being at almost 5° of Pisces is quite significant, bringing the Uranus position of 5° Gemini directly into this picture. Uranus is in fact the focus of a tight T-square from the eclipse Sun and Moon, which implies that surprises may once again abound, along with sudden and unexpected revelations. Additionally, Mercury, ruler of Gemini, is located at 5° Virgo, close to the Sun, only ½ degree away from a perfect conjunction with the solar light, so that this potent Full Moon lunation is very powerful in terms of our mental process. Neptune and Pluto, still at the 3-degree mark of Aries and Aquarius, come into this planetary picture as well; these mighty astrological energies are aligned to give us an attentively conscious period of time when, along with practical, rational thought process, we will be simultaneously dwelling, when we have the grace to stay open to it, with the entire mystical moment. Transpersonal awareness of our own unique evolutionary developmental power is in this way being brought directly to our earthly attention.
As is well-known, astrology is based on the quality of the moment of time as revealed in the planetary patterning, so that this particular extreme alignment during an eclipse is very relevant to the day – as well as the following weeks and months – as we circle ever closer to our true authentic Self and our mission for this lifetime.
In this regard, these outer planet alignments of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto are extremely significant. This pattern is sometimes called Barbault’s Basket – more specifically from July when Jupiter joined it from Leo. And its significance might be especially strong when you have major planets in early degrees of their sign, from about 2° to 6° of the particular signs involved. Dane Rudhyar called this triumvirate of planets “Ambassadors from the Galaxy,” and this is still true today, even though the astronomers are now calling Pluto a “dwarf.” Rudhyar called Uranus, in particular, the cosmic shock that awakens us to what is beyond the simplistic egoic structure that we have grown up with; that is, let us say, from our original growing up to our ultimately being led to take that next and bigger step.
Other features of this Lunar Eclipse Full Moon include a prominent position – once more – of Chiron, the Wounded Healer, remaining at 0° Taurus, which is trine the South Lunar Node of abandoning our evolutionary past; this with Taurus also being, interestingly, an earth-oriented sign. In ducking away from our solely egoic previous pathways, taking perhaps our first, faltering steps toward cosmic consciousness, we may well encounter the inner wounding of prior childhood trauma, feelings of “not good enough” that prevent us from following our own deep intuition that always tells us true. With Jupiter highlighted at 12° Leo, trine Saturn in Aries, this is our chance to take such eruptions as opportunities to transcend past shortcomings toward a more viable future by befriending these remnants of our psyche that have been walled away deep within ourselves behind barriers of shame and insufficiency. We truly have a more expanded, totally vibrant future self that we can – in this timing – begin evolving into.
This mystical moment also encompasses interesting positions of new KBO planets beyond Pluto, namely Eris and the Nature planets of Haumea and Makemake. We find Eris, spiritual warrior in support of soul intention, a topic we have just been discussing, in close septile to the eclipse Moon degree of 4-plus Pisces. This implies that – by hook or by crook, as it were – we can begin to make our way forward into our deepest evolutionary perspective, trusting in balancing and integrating all our hidden parts. Then, too, Haumea at 2° Scorpio, trine the eclipse Full Moon and opposite Chiron, has also something to contribute, as we seek to follow strictly our own inner principles in search of higher truth. Makemake is also prominent in this eclipse Full Moon, at 11° Libra, thus opposed Saturn, and parallel Uranus. This other new Nature planet represents a practical and activist approach toward embracing our utmost purpose, and, as well, enabling others around us to do the same.
These are indeed difficult and demanding times, as well as evolutionary potent ones. Once it is, however, that we can fully embrace our own individual values, leading us to our highest purpose, we no longer need to feel as though we are being run over by a failing culture. We can instead participate in making our own unique way forward into a future that is based on the authenticity of all that we hold inside.
