The New Moon at 7° Taurus arrives on April 27, 2025, at 12:31 pm Pacific Time, inviting us into a new cycle of rooting, resourcing, and returning to what brings us home to ourselves. The sign of Taurus often carries an anchoring quality, drawing our awareness toward embodiment, the senses, and the stabilizing rhythms of the tangible world. There’s a softness here when we can slow down enough to notice – a chance to attune to what helps our nervous systems settle, what makes us feel safe, grounded, and resilient. Ideally, we can begin to orient from that place as we move forward.
And yet, this particular New Moon is anything but mellow. It's part of a rare and potent fixed Grand Cross, formed by squares to both Pluto in Aquarius and Mars in Leo, and an opposition to Black Moon Lilith and the new 21st century KBO planet Haumea in Scorpio. Grand Crosses like this are high-tension configurations, and in this case stimulating growth through stretching us to confront uncomfortable truths head-on.
Let’s begin with Pluto. Having only recently crossed the threshold into Aquarius, Pluto is now turning its slow-burn, deeply transformative gaze toward the future – toward technology, collectivism, and the deeper truths of our interconnected existence. On a personal level, this may bring up questions around what we truly stand for, where we fit in the larger whole, and what systems or thought-patterns are ready to be dismantled so that something more authentic can take shape. It calls upon our innovation to envision and birth a new world into being.
Enter Mars. This is the third Mars-Pluto opposition since Mars began its retrograde journey in December. It’s a gritty, confrontational aspect, stirring up power struggles, suppressed desires, or buried anger. But it’s also deeply catalytic – asking us to be brave, to reclaim creative agency, and to assert ourselves in new ways that may feel bold or even defiant. This isn’t a time for half-measures. Something in us wants to break free and burn brighter.
Then we have the counterpoint: Black Moon Lilith and Haumea, both in Scorpio. These feminine archetypes bring even more depth and complexity to an already charged moment. Lilith speaks to the parts of us that have been exiled – truths we’ve buried to fit into systems that were never made for our fullness. She doesn't provoke for the sake of rebellion; she cuts through illusion and calls us back to what’s real. Working with Lilith can be tender and uncomfortable, but also liberating. She invites us to reclaim the aspects of ourselves that were deemed too much, too angry, too sensitive, too wild – and to remember that they hold vital wisdom.
Haumea, meanwhile, offers a more regenerative medicine. She’s connected to birth, fertility, and the infinite creative intelligence of nature itself. In Scorpio, she brings attention to life’s cyclical nature, and how even what feels like destruction may ultimately be part of a deeper becoming. Together, Lilith and Haumea can bring powerful insights from our depths, and a clarity that cuts through, not to wound, but to heal, to compost the old stories and make room for something richer and more whole.
All of this in such close aspects to the Sun and Moon in Taurus may have us feeling a visceral and embodied sense of the weight of all that is happening in the world. It is, to say the very least, A LOT. This configuration is undeniably intense, and in real-world terms, that might look like exhaustion, overwhelm, or a sense of being stretched to the edge. That’s not a failing – it’s part of the invitation. One of the most radical things we can do in this moment is rest. Let ourselves move at the pace of our bodies, at the speed of what our nervous system can actually interface with and digest. The energy of this New Moon will echo throughout the next 30 days, so it doesn't all have to be navigated at once. There’s time to move through what becomes illuminated now, step by step, breath by breath.
And still, amidst all this tension, there are gentler threads running through the chart. Venus, the ruler of this New Moon, is in exaltation in Pisces – a position of grace and beauty. She’s conjunct Saturn and the North Node, bringing clarity and purpose to what we value most, while Neptune (though out of sign in Aries, now) adds a transcendent shimmer. Ceres is nearby as well, and Uranus forms a soft sextile from Taurus. There’s something quietly luminous here… a deeper wellspring we can draw from, when we can tune in. It may be found in our connections with others, in art, in spirit, or in moments of peace that remind us we are not alone. When we orient toward what feels truly nourishing, a kind of inner compass activates, helping us navigate through the uncertainty.
And if we are needing a bit of levity or mental refreshment, Jupiter’s journey through Gemini might offer just that. As it finishes up its time in this curious, idea-loving sign, it can be a source of inspiration and lightness, reminding us of the power of play, dialogue, and creative possibility. Soon, in June, it will enter Cancer, the sign of its exaltation, bringing along more maternal, heart-centered support. Something new is on the horizon.
To sum up this very intense New Moon, yes, there is pressure. Yes, this moment may feel like it’s asking everything of us. But it’s also a crucible for transformation – a place where the truth of who we are can come into sharper focus, where creative fire meets grounded presence. This New Moon may not feel easy, but it holds the potential for deep reclamation.
May this New Moon meet you where you are, with gentleness, with honesty, and with the kind of clarity that helps you step more fully into your sovereignty. May your connection to spirit, to nature, to community, and to yourself, be the nourishment that carries you through. May the intelligence of your soft animal body lead the way, as you find and prioritize your own pace, rhythm, and the beat of your own drum.
Some points of inquiry to carry into this lunation:
- Where is it high time for me to really reclaim my power and embody my true creativity ?
- What spiritual principles and practices am I truly committed to these days or can become so? Can I recognize this as a form of care for myself in my own nourishment and resilience?
- What aspects of myself and my expression did I at some time push underground and are now ready to be reclaimed and integrated as fundamental to my unique gifts and wisdom?
- Where, also, might I betray my innate sense of compassion by lashing out in unintended anger toward another – and how can I do my best to avoid this unfortunate outcome?
