This is another amazing month for you, Cancer, one of revelation and change. It can be said in general that you are in a process of intensely examining the effect of partnership on your life and many of its dimensions including service to others and habitual outlines. The recent Sagittarius New Moon from the previous December month points to this, and as well the key signifier of Mercury in retrograde motion that began in your opposite sign of Capricorn. Mercury stations to direct motion on the first day of January, in late Sagittarius, and yet does not fully straighten out until the 20th indicating an introspective timing when research into the fundamentals of your condition wins out over taking any form of direct action. Your sense of what intimacy encompasses, along with your arc of evolutionary progress, is involved in a deep process of transformation. As your understanding grows so do your possibilities for evolving new patterns. With the January 11th New Moon in your opposite sign, you are making a fresh start in partnership and, indeed, in your own stages of growth. All through January, while other-oriented, you can find encouragement from your community – and from your contributions and gifts there – that aid in your own self-development.

The New Year begins with Jupiter and Mercury just turning direct in sync with the beginning of the calendar year, plus an emphasis on Uranus in your social sector. This offers a nice momentum for factors of personal evolution that had been slowed down in December with the retrograde of Mercury, and you could feel a regained sense of vitality and start to feel hopeful for things to come. January also opens in the midst of the lunation cycle that began in mid-December with the New Moon in Sagittarius which therefore took place in the health and daily routine sector of your chart. This continues its influence through the first ten days of the present January month. You could have a renewed sense of life purpose coming through in January along with novelty and surprises in the area of your societal contribution. Intentions around health and physical well-being are also indicated, and might be slow to integrate yet you may feel the need to tend carefully to your schedule in order to fit everything in. Spending time outside, moving around and being physically active could be exactly what the doctor ordered and joining a class could also be a fun way to integrate more group activities in your schedule.
Partnerships of all kinds are emphasized in January as several planets transit in your opposing sign of Capricorn. Mars enters Capricorn on the 4th with the Sun already transiting there. There will likely be, for you, great interest for interpersonal connections as opposed to solitary activities.
During the second week of January, from the 7th to the 9th, Mercury in Sagittarius forms a square with Neptune in Pisces. This aspect having occurred already twice in the past month due to Mercury moving retrograde could be related to an academic project or travel plans that you are trying to sort out. You may be depending on someone else to give you the green light or go over your ideas and things could finally get sorted out by the second weekend of the month.
The Capricorn New Moon arrives on January 11th and signals the beginning of a new cycle in the part of your chart that relates to alliances of various kinds, including business partnerships. Contractual agreements may feature in some ways and it may be easier to go with the flow and work with others for this period of time. Your attention will be placed on your personal partnerships or business alliances while new shapes emerge in the relationship area of your life in the coming weeks. At the same time, you may also strive for balance between opposing points of view and may be more inclined to want to please everybody. If so, you could benefit from becoming more aware of trying to be all things to all people and trying find a healthy equilibrium between your personal needs and the ones of your partnership connections.
The week of January 15th brings supportive aspects between Mercury in Capricorn and both Saturn in Pisces and Jupiter in Taurus so that it could feel easier to share your ideas and visions within a group or in the world at large. You may also be in the process of broadening your scope considerably, learning and integrating new concepts or philosophical frameworks that can help you make sense of the larger picture.
Your focus could shift around the 20th when the Sun and Pluto conjoin first in Capricorn and then in Aquarius as they enter that sign together on the same day. In many ways, this is the end of one era and the beginning of another in terms of relationship and for what you expect from a partner. You may feel ready to embrace new ways of being with others and work through changes to eventually become more confident and self-sufficient than ever before.
On January 25th, the Leo Full Moon takes place in the sector of your chart that relates to your sense of autonomy, your resources and your sense of self-worth. There could be deep self-reflection taking place related to your work in the world and your emotional reactions to it. This could also be a good time to indulge a little and treat yourself to something nice. Writer and poet Rupi Kaur once wrote that ‘’How you love yourself is how you teach others to love you’’ and this tidbit of wisdom may be entirely apt for you on this Full Moon.
In this later part of January, the Sun moving through Aquarius could bring an introspective influence or ease you out of a sense of detachment. The last few days of the month contain a host of positive aspects that could play out in your interpersonal relationships and in your social sphere. The assistance you receive from others could be directly linked to the realization of your goals and it may be good to let others lend their support or ask for help if you need it at this time. You may also be charged with the responsibility of managing other people’s resources in some ways but you may not be able to do it all on your own and knowing your allies could make a huge difference.
Venus in Capricorn, your relationship sector, forma supportive aspects with both Saturn in Pisces and Jupiter in Taurus on the 28th and the 29th and this could highlight themes of loyalty and duty within your partnerships, while Mars in Capricorn coming into a trine with Uranus in Taurus on the 29th and the 30th could help you break out of a rut and see things from another person’s point of view. The relationship orientation of this entire month comes to a head in these ending days, and could reflect positively on the evolutionary arc of your own development.
