An interesting month presages for you a year of greater social activism, Pisces. You have been greatly invested in the way that you reach out to the world around you, by means of your public statement, career or profession, and also questioning the basis for this area of life, which is something of an uncertain solution for you. Your basic set of beliefs is also a changing landscape, along with your values. As your worldview shifts, this creates a focus on career choices that you have made, so that the reconsiderations of the past few weeks may emerge this month into greater clarity. Your dreams and schemes take front and center and with these evolving goals comes a more solid form of self-understanding that leads to action. The second half of January solidifies these gains. You find that what you want to see happening in the world and what you want with regard to your own future development are intimately related.
The following was written by this month's guest columnist Adam Elenbaas of The Nightlight Astrology School
Happy New Year, Pisces! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season and that you are feeling renewed and ready for a powerful year ahead. This month gets started with the recent ingress of Saturn into Capricorn, which happened just as we passed through the gateway of the winter solstice a few weeks ago. Whenever a planet changes signs in Sun Sign horoscopy it also changes houses. Saturn has thus entered your eleventh house to stay for the next two to three years.
The eleventh house was traditionally related to the resources or money of Kings and powerful people. It was related to benefactors, allies, and friends, as well as our general wishes and dreams for future prosperity. Saturn entering your eleventh house signals that your long-term plans and goals may be changing right now, and in fact they might be changing significantly over the next several years. Eleventh house transits of Saturn also help us to determine who our friends are and who they are not. “You will know them by their fruit,” is a very good word of wisdom for this transit. Watch carefully as those who aren’t good for you fall away and as those who make worthy allies appear. Saturn in your eleventh is a long and slow transit, so allow your new dream or vision to formulate slowly, and don’t rush for easy solutions to build your dream. This would be just the kind of action that would likely lead to getting involved with the wrong people.
The first of the month features the Full Moon in Cancer in your fifth house of children, pregnancy, recreation, and creativity. The month may begin with a celebration of new life, news of a pregnancy, or a sweeter than usual emotional connection with children. It’s also a wonderful time for enjoying time with people, taking in art or music, and generally relaxing and enjoying the glow of the new year. The fifth house was traditionally called, “Good fortune,” and it was related to happiness and joy. Whatever is happening in your life right now, you may be feeling quite optimistic and warm-hearted at the exact same time that you’re beginning to seriously restructure your dreams and goals. Allow for both to exist at the same time. Life is easier when we don’t fight some of these contradictions but rather just go with the flow!
On January 6th, Mars will conjoin Jupiter in your ninth house of religion, beliefs, higher education, and long journeys. If you’re traveling abroad this time it should be a pretty adventurous experience. Be careful of going to extremes because this could indicate being a little overly confident and potentially accident-prone. On the other hand, this is a transit that emphasizes the strength of your beliefs and convictions. Don’t hold back from preaching a little, if it’s appropriate. Pisceans are often a little shy and sensitive, but as children of Jupiter when you’re passionate about something you inspire everyone around you. At the same time, Mars and Jupiter in your ninth house may be a little dogmatic and aggressive, so be careful. You are at your best when you cause others to believe and to see the bigger picture. This transit will help you do that, but it may involve looking at or addressing more difficult or subversive issues. There is perhaps no sign more capable of being a good and faithful diplomat than you, Pisces!
On January 10th, Mercury will enter Capricorn and conjoin Saturn in your eleventh house. It’s a great time to enjoy the company and conversation of friends, elders, mentors, teachers, or even your own parents or grandparents. Mercury and Saturn coming together is also great for strategizing, seeking the advice or counsel of someone you respect, or revising a mode of communication or technology. Watch for important messages, conversations, contracts, or negotiations around this time, as well. An opportunity might pop up around this time that has a lot of positive potential for the future. Just remember, you’re in a long-term process of reshaping your goals and ambitions, so patience is also your best friend right now.
January 16th is the date of the Capricorn New Moon, also taking place in your eleventh house and in conjunction with Venus. What comes up for a fresh start are your societal connections, including groups you favor and friendships with persons of like mind, as well as your wishes and hopes for claiming a better future for yourself and for society at large.
On January 17th, Venus will enter Aquarius and move into your twelfth house, the place of unconscious process. Although also associated with the twelfth are prisons, isolation and the like, it is important to note that behind the twelfth house is the gateway to a profound mystical truth. If you can accept your own suffering, if you can learn to live with it rather than in denial of it, then you have also discovered a source of joy that is beyond the ups and downs of this world. With Venus entering the twelfth house it’s a very good time to work on relationship issues, or troubles in friendships or marriages. It’s could be a very tempting time to overindulge or to get lost in the glamour of something rather than seeing things for what they are. You may also feel a deep sense of empathy or compassion for those who are suffering around you at this time. You might be called on to help friends or lovers in need. Just be careful that you don’t get used, abused, or drained. Helping others is one thing, becoming someone else’s doormat is another. Last but not least, don’t be afraid to enjoy the sweet romance of alone time. Venus in your twelfth house is a great transit for taking yourself out on a few dates, and allowing the quiet to heal you.
Finally, on January 26th, Mars will enter Sagittarius and move into your tenth house of career. This is an excellent transit for career initiatives, for work related projects, advancement or promotion. The Lunar Eclipse of the 31st in Leo, corresponding to your sixth house, also contributes to workplace attitudes and emphasis. However, Mars transits in the tenth are also sometimes related to confrontations with people in authority or with increased work or general work stress. This end of month time is likely to be very busy and dynamic period of career activity, but it can be exhausting and might even make you sick, if you don’t manage your energy carefully. Mars in the tenth is a transit that may also thrust you into the spotlight, or it can feature you taking a greater leadership position, or even launching a new business endeavor altogether. Mars will be in your tenth house all the way into March, so these conditions will be here for quite a while. Enjoy the action, and don’t back down from anyone who tries to step on your toes during this period. You’ll respect yourself a lot more for standing in your truth during this period of time.
