This is another month to remember, Gemini, when the dual factors of a rather intense eclipse season plus the retrograde of your ruler, Mercury, will create not only ripples but more likely, high seas. The final ten days of the previous month featured the beginning of the Mercury Retrograde period, lasting basically throughout May when you take Mercury’s Shadow into account. The retrograde is taking place in your sector of dream imagination and inner work, increasing the introspective tenor of this timing. You were in a full-on appreciation of exciting future plans and social commitments up until last April 21st, when it began, and now, especially as the May month first gets started, you are more full of questions than of answers. The necessary information that you will need to complete your investigations arises from a deeply intuitional – rather than a purely logical – source. The lunar eclipse of May 5th sparks this intuitional component of your experience even more poignantly. Another peak moment of the retrograde comes along from the 12th to the 14th, the day of Mercury’s station to direct motion, when your commitment to your career and professional life is quite high, although still with important components to be worked out in the weeks that follow.

The Solar Eclipse New Moon from last month took place at the final degree of Aries, the sign that corresponds to your social sector. Because this was an extremely portent lunation, as well as an eclipse, there has likely been a transformational surge within you around the way you see the world around you, and your part in seeing things change for the better. Friendships and social groups you favor are affected, as well as your values and the extent to which your principles play a role in determining life choices. You might feel the need to stand up for the ideals you seek and believe in. The standards that you may have long had in place might have even needed to be raised to accommodate your evolving consciousness and perspective on life. You may have also felt that, amongst your friends or in a community setting, you needed to advocate for something you believe in. These effects of the eclipse are especially relevant for the first three weeks of May and for the next six months lasting into the fall of the year.
On May 1st , transformative Pluto, featured in the recent eclipse, stations retrograde in your sector of higher mind, education, travel, and worldview, therefore representing a highlighted presence of this powerful planetary archetype for change. The 1st is a special day as well because retrograde Mercury conjoins the Sun in Taurus, your sector of hidden matters, illusions, and enlightenment, which is one peak moment of the retrograde period. This combination of events can signal a transformational breakthrough in your spiritual understanding and belief systems, perhaps inspiring you to expand your consciousness in some way, or perhaps make a spiritual pilgrimage. The importance of formulating your spiritual belief system may be very present to you.
On Friday, May 5th, the Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse take place in Scorpio, corresponding to your sector of health, service, and day-to-day life. The Sun and Uranus are also emphasized in your sector of dream imagination and inner work. It is possible that what is going for you within the depth of your psyche will be a factor over this weekend and the remainder of the month. You might feel the need to address any mental or emotional health concerns that either you or someone close to you is dealing with. Being supportive and of service to someone who may be dealing with issues related to this can encourage you to gain more perspective on the importance of addressing these matters publicly. This may also influence you to change your perspective on your own matters of health and how you manage your life.
Venus ingresses into Cancer on May 7th in your values, sustainability, and resources sector and this could inspire you to spend more time focusing on how to create a more sustainable and reliable sense of security and comfort for you and/or your loved ones. There can be an opportunity here to gain more income through some sort of work from home. Establishing or improving a proverbial nest egg can be the overall impetus of this transit for you, thus ensuring the safety and sustainability of your lifestyle.
On May 12th, the Last Quarter Moon in Aquarius is colored by an active and somewhat difficult and yet workable relationship between Mercury, Venus, and Saturn. The introspective and meditative process represented by the retrograde of Mercury and the Sun in your twelfth sector of hidden matters is once again emphasized, as Mercury slows, preparing to station. Though your financial situation may be in flux, you could be coming into a leadership role professionally that can bring in more income and sustainability. This phase of the Moon can motivate you to apply a more spiritual or enlightening approach to the way you work and the way you are recognized in your career.
Mercury stations direct on May 14th in your sector of hidden matters, illusions, and inner work. Because Mercury is dead still in the sky, this weekend represents another peak period of the retrograde, when you might be looking more deeply into your career choices. You may have given a lot of thought over the past three weeks or more, while Mercury was retrograde, to how your life is heading, and the way that your deep principles and your evolving worldview affect your plans going forward. Some form of public recognition might catapult you into a higher paying job, or you could be establishing more financial security by working from home. While in the two-week post-retrograde period that follows, Mercury is indeed direct, and yet there is a lingering influence while Mercury gradually straightens out called Mercury’s Shadow Period. This also implies that you are likely taking more time to work to integrate all the recalibrating that took place over the past three weeks or more.
Jupiter ingresses into Taurus on May 16th in your twelfth sector of hidden matters, illusion, and spiritual enlightenment. This is also a powerful time for the transformational effects of Pluto in direct partile square to Jupiter. The days that follow can mark a transformative integration of spiritual practices or pursuits in your life. Recognizing the value of connecting to the divine and understanding how the divine connects all of us to one another, both physically and unconsciously, could be a prevailing theme over the next year for you. While this can herald an opportunity to establish a stronger connection to the divine, on the other hand Pluto might insist that you sacrifice something that does not align with your ideals or previous beliefs anymore.
On Friday, May 19th, the Taurus New Moon lands in the late degrees of the sign, corresponding to your twelfth sector of illusions, dream imagination, and inner work. This can motivate you to pursue something new that speaks to your spiritual or transcendent values, although that process should be carefully considered before moving forward. While the New Moon is generally a good time to set new intentions and start new endeavors, it might be a good idea to wait until at least after the 21st to act upon those intentions, or perhaps the end of the month, when Mercury fully escapes its retrograde shadow. All of these planets in Taurus in your twelfth sector of spiritual connection are likely indicating significant eagerness within you to reconnect to that part of you that resonates with the divine and inspires creative connections to humanity and the natural world.
Mars moves into Leo in your third sector of communication and education on May 20th, further exacerbating the Jupiter-Pluto square and creating a partile or same degree T-square to Jupiter in your sector of hidden matters and inner work. This transit may also encourage you to feel appreciated for your communication skills or your writing abilities. This could also ignite a passion to embark on a new field of study, or maybe commit to expressing yourself through writing or speaking in some way that goes to transformational depths within you. If you have been involved in writing, or in wanting to start a blog, or teach a course, there will be a serious and almost meditative cast to these forms of endeavor now. There are many ways this ingress can restimulate your creativity and encourage you to express yourself or be recognized in some way for your intellectual abilities.
The Sun’s ingress into your sign on May 21st corresponding to your first sector of initiative and identity can motivate you to speak up and advocate for more freedom and independence in your life. Although the Sun’s trine to Pluto while Mars is in opposition to Pluto and Jupiter squares Pluto could bring a tension that could require some form of intellectual humility or further adjustments, this event is also an exciting time of new possibilities. You might want to embrace a new vision of who and what you truly are. Using your voice to share your desires, passions, and what you learn may be called for. The remainder of the month in the wake of combined celestial events of the past three days could stimulate enormous enthusiasm for what lies ahead.
