Capricorn Horoscope for August 2017

You have a unique set of opportunities and responsibilities looming this month, Capricorn. This is not only about outer world commitments, although in terms of career and professional life, you are sailing along in rare form with the help of partners of various kinds. Due to the placement of the two eclipses this month, as well as that of Saturn, your ruler, you also have a mission to be looking to the inside. This refers to the hidden half of your personality, the part that is more or less unknown, and that yet represents the wellspring for much of your easeful feelings of fitting in with the natural energies of the universe. You win when you can pay close attention to these underground parts of yourself, in any way that you can. That studied action leads you through transformation and the whitewater rapids of your life into the calmer waters of true success.

Capricorn’s season begins at the start of the Sun’s ascent from the Winter Solstice toward the opposite point of the Summer Solstice. Accordingly, those born under this sign are resourceful and determined to take the long slow climb up the mountain toward whatever goals they set for themselves. As a Capricorn, you are likely familiar with these themes. You know what it’s going to take at the very outset of whatever you do, and so if you’re going to do something then you’ll commit to whatever it requires of you. Because of this, you are both tenacious but also, sometimes, all too self-reliant and therefore slow to recognize or accept help from others. This month’s two eclipses may bring some of these strengths and weaknesses up for you as both eclipses take place in houses associated with money, finances, and personal versus shared resources.

The first eclipse is a lunar eclipse, taking place on August 7th, in Aquarius in your second house, the house of personal finances, resources (inner and outer), and material possessions. Lunar eclipses always taken place at the time of Full Moons, and they generally point toward periods of culmination and/or closure. When a lunar eclipse falls into your second house its generally an indication that finances, resources, money, or funds are running out, that there are big or important expenses coming up, or that a source of income or material support is dwindling or changing. On the other hand, a lunar eclipse in your second house could mean that a kind of material desire, craving, or set of needs is changing, or that you are releasing or letting go of something you’ve been in possession of for a while now. Whatever happens, a lunar eclipse in the second is signaling to you that whatever you tend to rely on for material support might be changing. If you can remember that all changes happen for a reason, as a part of the path of destiny, then despite whatever changes might occur this month, you will be planting the seeds for something new to manifest and support you in the future.

The next eclipse is a solar eclipse taking place on August 21st, in Leo, in your eighth house, the house of shared resources, finances, and material possessions. The eighth house is also associated with death, loss, and decline, or fear of the future. It might sound a little heavy, but solar eclipses, which always take place at the time of New Moons, bring powerful new beginnings or opportunities. Eighth house solar eclipses can bring new opportunities related to a partner’s financial situation, or sometimes through inheritance or through the passing of someone in the family. An eighth house solar eclipse might also mean that you are meeting someone who has personal resources to offer you or that might be of some assistance to you now. Learning to accept help from others in life is tricky for Capricorns who almost always know what to expect from themselves and know how to get where they want to go under their own steam. This month’s eclipses may highlight that classic Capricornian tension between what is mine, what is in my control or possession, versus what is in somebody else’s control or possession. We can’t do everything in life by ourselves, and sometimes the hardest lessons involve learning to accept our destiny when it means trusting someone else as much as we trust ourselves. However, if you bring your same toughness and commitment to the process of trusting the help of the Universe, you will find just as much success as you’re used to finding on your own, Capricorn.
