Chiron and the Lunar Nodes: Healing Our Past, Envisioning Future

The Sun represents vitality, and Chiron represent the Wounded Healer archetype. On March 11, 2016, with the Sun conjunct Chiron in Pisces, we all may be in closer consideration of our own wounding and painful life lessons.

At the same degree of Pisces we also find the South Node. Nodes are symbolic of karmic paths- the South Node signifies where we are coming from, and the North Node signifies the direction we may be headed in this lifetime. With the Sun illuminating the pain from our past, it may be a day where we can get really clear on the places where we are stuck in old painful stories, where we have not forgiven ourselves and others, or where we are unnecessarily attached to our human struggles. With this configuration in Pisces, there is a beautiful opportunity to approach these pieces of ourselves with unconditional love and acceptance.

Opposite this configuration it is fortunate that we find Jupiter anchoring the North Node just a few degrees away from one another in Virgo. This can be seen as the guiding light of optimism into a brighter future where we are each aligned with our higher ideals. It is a prime time, also, to visualize grand potentials for yourself. The path forward may not reveal itself, just yet, so patience is required. In the mean time, keep your house in order, take care of yourself, and wait on the will of heaven to fill in the gaps between you and your most cherished dreams.

The Lunar Nodes are important points to consider in a birth chart. Here is information on natal house placement for the nodes:

North Node in 1st House, South Node in 7th House:
This placement gives you a focus on advancing into your own individual self-hood. Your evolutionary path is to get your own act together, this time around. Throughout your life you will be forced to resolve issues with depending on yourself, versus depending on other people. In the past, or in past lives, you were focused on others, meeting their needs rather than your own, and depending on them for emotional and material support. Now your life path is calling for you to depend on no one but yourself. Events may seem to force you into this direction. It is good to remember that outer events can be another facet of the voice of your own inner Self. You benefit from following these directives from your own higher consciousness, no matter how difficult that may prove to be in actual practice.

North Node in 2nd House, South Node in 8th House:
This placement gives a personality somewhat focused around the issues of money and material possessions. In a previous period, or past lifetime, you were concerned with the utilization of other people's resources rather than your own. You also may have gotten involved with occult practices, or engaged in deep and even taboo relations with others, factors that shaped your past, and the residue of which still colors your present life experience. Now, in this lifetime, you must learn to marshall your own forces and be a resource unto yourself. You are in the process of clarifying your values, based on a new feeling of independence, having come through the fires of hell, as it were, in order to establish a more stable and lasting sense of self-worth.

North Node in 3rd House, South Node in 9th House:
With this placement you have unusually clear and direct communication skills. You are interested in the practical application of knowledge, in helping to bring people together, rather than information simply for the sake of it. In the past, or in past lifetimes, you likely got far into solitary philosophical concerns. Perhaps religious values were quite important to you. Now your focus is on a more mundane or worldly view, where higher knowledge counts, but only in so far as it is useful in the analysis of day-to-day events and in order to spread the word to others. Although you may be tempted at times to drift off into deeper reflections, your real goal is to be in touch with people, and your mental abilities serve your purpose well.

North Node in 4th House, South Node in 10th House:
This placement gives a strong desire for emotional security. You may feel you are a special person, a person of great achievements, and you may even feel isolated in your singularity, for in the past or in previous lifetimes you spent a great deal of your energy on getting to the top. But as the refrain goes, "It's lonely at the top" and your focus now will be on getting a better sense of who you really are, at the level of your emotional roots. You will find as you advance in your life, that your home life is extremely important to you. Exploring the depths of your being through meditation or some sort of transpersonal process work will also be extremely beneficial. Although you may feel tempted to go out and achieve in the world of career and public life, for which you have a natural affinity, it is in the area of establishing a secure base of operations, and of nurturing your immediate community of friends and family that you find your greatest fulfillment, this time around.

North Node in 5th House, South Node in 11th House:
This placement gives a personality with a focus on being recognized and admired for the personal creativity that you manifest. You are fortunate in this lifetime, for few people have the capacity, as you do, of actually making your dreams come true. You are engaged in a life-long process of concretizing your thought images, turning the products of your extraordinarily clever intellect into actual manifestation in the world. In the past, or in past lifetimes, you specialized in ideals and imaginings, without giving much thought to working these out in the real world. But as you get on with your life's journey you find that actually manifesting these thought forms becomes more and more your focus. When you are on your true path, you find that you must act and create, for in acting you give form to the otherwise formless and ideal, and in so doing fulfill your destiny.

North Node in 6th House, South Node in 12th House:
This placement gives a personality with a great desire to be of service to other people. In the past, or in past lives, you were dreamy and unfocused, and paid little attention to detail. You were in the process of connecting to your higher self, journeying back into the cosmic realms within your own mind. Now your focus must shift to the details of daily life, in a constant effort to improve self, to serve self and others, and to remain alert to the myriad mundane details of life that do not leave much time for day dreaming. This is a difficult transition to make, but necessary if you are to fulfill your destiny, this time around. As your life unfolds, you may find that issues of health may come up for you, in order for you to work through them. You may possibly be called to care for another whose illness will be a test of your patience and your commitment to service. Since you feel a close kinship to the spiritual world, dealing with every-day details sometimes may seem boring and unsatisfying. As you work through these challenges, though, you come closer and closer to an understanding of how dealing with every-day issues really does connect you with the world of Spirit, still operating at the core of your being.

North Node in 7th House, South Node in 1st House:
This placement gives a personality with a focus on forming close partnership attachments. You may have difficulties in marriage and partnerships; but there are also great rewards to be gained in this area. This is ultimately a spiritual placement of the North Node. In the past, or in past lives, you have been concerned with yourself alone, but now you must make the transition to being mostly concerned with others. This concern for the other person does not come naturally to you, for it is easier to rely on yourself, as you have always done. Now, in this lifetime, though, you need to focus your energies outward. The welfare of the other person, your intimate partner or your partner in other types of relationship, is a necessary key to your own spiritual evolution. By fulfilling this mission of connection with others, you enrich your own experience, so that you come back to yourself more whole, more well rounded. Your lessons in this life revolve around this ideal of true giving of yourself to another.

North Node in 8th House, South Node in 2nd House:
This placement gives a focus on personal transformation, and on deeply felt relationship with other people. In the past, or in previous lifetimes, you paid a great deal of attention to ownership of property and material things. You need to gradually let go of these attachments in the course of this lifetime. This may prove difficult for you, especially if you have strong conjunctions between the South Node and other planets. As your life unfolds, you may develop an interest in occult science. Your focus as you mature will be more and more on how you can be helpful to others in your relationships with them, and less and less on status, prestige and the accumulation of riches or physical security. The sexual act itself can become a basis for your security, and therefore transformative as you relate to others in a deeper and more spiritual way. Your evolutionary payoff comes from letting go of the material world in to order to accept the deep and universal connection with others that is the root truth of the social condition, recognizing that, beyond the material world, you are part of a much larger context.

North Node in 9th House, South Node in 3rd House:
This placement gives a thoughtful personality, with a focus on understanding moral or ethical belief systems. You may tend to scatter your energies, especially when young. In the past, or in past lifetimes, you concentrated your attention on superficial relationships of the everyday world. Now in this lifetime, your purpose seems to be to lift your attention toward a synthesis of higher consciousness. You will find great joy in pursuing the broader picture, whether in terms of educational perspectives or perhaps participation in cultures other than your own. Although curiosity regarding details and enjoyment of a multiplicity of points of view comes naturally to you, you must now learn to see the forest instead of the trees. Your focus now will become more and more the pursuit of higher knowledge and a deeper understanding of the motivations of others that was meant by the phrase "to understand all is to forgive all." A true philosophy of compassion is your goal.

North Node in 10th House, South Node in 4th House:
This placement gives a personality with a focus on recognized achievement. Although you are comfortable in your private home life, which is what comes most naturally to you, you are determined as you mature to move beyond the personal and secure enclosure of your home and family and out into the public sphere. Something is calling to you to come forth and shine your light so that the world can see it. Your search for public recognition is not however a goal in and of itself, but connects you into a larger picture of social commitment and service to the collective ideal that reinforces your sense of self as a part of the greater whole, an important cog in the turning wheel of world events. Thus you come full circle to a self-concept that includes its own sense of security in beneficial interaction with the social matrix that surrounds you.

North Node in 11th House, South Node in 5th House:
This placement gives an individual with a focus on friendships, group associations and social goals. Although creativity on a personal level comes easily to you, and creating by means of including other people is perhaps more difficult, it is this more difficult task that you are drawn to attempt in this lifetime. In the past, or in previous lifetimes, you were proud of your individuality and of your individual contribution. You may have had an ego attachment to the products of your personal energy, and were not very interested in promoting social values or a group ideal. Now you find yourself envisioning possibilities far larger than just for yourself and your immediate family, so that the betterment of all of society becomes your focus. How can you fit into society around you in a way that benefits both the collective and your own idealistic agenda, moving forward? As you develop along this evolutionary path you find that you are ever more future-oriented and socially responsible, for in this way you find your true fulfillment.

North Node in 12th House, South Node in 6th House:
This placement gives you a personality with a focus on spiritual rather than worldly concerns. Although the practical matters of everyday life come easily to you, you do not find your true happiness in the pursuit of mundane affairs, but seek constantly to expand your horizons mentally and spiritually to a larger and more inclusive context. This may be difficult, for the pull of everyday life is very strong in you, and in many ways it is what you do best. In the past, or in previous lifetimes, you may have made much of refining your abilities in the practical world. At that time you dealt mainly with issues of personal health or the welfare of others in small but important ways. Now, in this lifetime, your focus gradually shifts to a higher plane of activity. You find your mission not so much in day-to-day routine, but in sacrificing yourself to a higher purpose, to advancing beyond the material world, perhaps with a disregard for your own well being. By giving up your personal ego-involvement in your actions, you are learning how to help others with true compassion. You find yourself going deep within to bring forth a renewed understanding of how to serve others, as you become an exemplar for a more spiritually based society.
