This is a somewhat difficult month for you, Libra, and an important time, as Mercury recovers from its recent retrograde, of making a thorough-going reassessment of your principles and values. The recent mid-December Sagittarius New Moon featured a strong component of curiosity, communication, and learning that continues into the first ten days of January. With Mercury retrograding and then recovering, continuing into the present, you have been reviewing and potentially questioning your family dynamic or your dwelling space itself, to include issues involving your family of origin. With the advent of the Capricorn New Moon of January 11th, you are making a fresh start in some of these areas of concern. It is also possible at this mid-month timing that inner wounding will come up for better conscious understanding of the deeper layers of your psyche, leading to a more complete integration. This can be regarded as a real opportunity for healing. You do well to accept yourself and any perceived flaws in a softer light, and to reach down into your dark places with a loving attention, just as you would comfort a hurt child. Things get better as the month continues to unfold; especially if you can recognize the inevitability of transformational change taking place.

January begins in the wake of the mid-December Sagittarius New Moon that continues to influence your current month, as the Sagittarius cycle plays out over the its first ten days. You may continue to see encouraging progress for writing projects, publishing, travel plans or for new ideas in general. Trickster Uranus, highlighted and lodged in your intimacy sector, might also continue to rain havoc, or at least surprises on this area of the way that you connect with others, or to your own depths. You have a determination, all through these trials, to use any difficulty as grist for moving through relationship twists and turns toward an intended higher solution. Because Mercury has also recently been retrograde, in this same sector, things may have been slowed down considerably in December and you may have had to contend with time-consuming logistics or complications of all kinds. Solutions could be emerging as January gets going and as Mercury slowly regains momentum over the first couple of weeks of the month. This will eventually allowi you to regain a sense of control over your schedule and over your long term plans.
The New Year also begins with both Jupiter in Taurus and Mercury in Sagittarius stationing direct which will bring considerable traction in your collaborations and for communications of all kinds in the coming weeks.
While communications with others could start picking up, you may still have to contend with a few delays around the 1st of January as Venus, your ruler, located in Sagittarius, forms a square with Saturn in Pisces. Intellectual efforts and plans laid out at this time could lead to long lasting results although you may not immediately be able to see that.
On January 4th, your home, your family and your domestic life comes into greater focus as Mars enters Capricorn. Partners could be helpful in better understanding what is going own with you, in your own depths. You may feel a sense of tension between what you want and what is required from you at home or from a family member.
On the 8th, Mercury in Sagittarius squares Neptune in Pisces for a third time since the end of November which mean you may have to revisit something you have been trying to resolve for a few months. There could be a form of fuzzy logic pervading your thoughts at this time, as well as trans-personal access to other dimensions of experience.
Mars in Capricorn forming a sextile with Saturn in Pisces on the 9th could imply that partners enter into this and finding your way to a solution.
The Capricorn New Moon takes place on January 11th in the sector of your chart relating to your family, your domestic arrangements, and more extensively your psychological center. A new cycle now begins for these topics, lasting into the following month. Although it may be hard to know exactly where things are heading, there is a process involved which will change after the next week or so as Mercury escapes its retrograde shadow. The New Moon forms a close trine with Uranus in Taurus which may bring surprises or emphasize your desire for progress out of a stale arrangement. This New Moon is also taking place at ‘the bendings’ meaning it is squaring the nodal axis, implying an important juncture in your spiritual evolution. What unfolds through this lunar cycle could be at the core of some of the transformation you are experiencing this month. Your domestic life or a family situation needs to be given careful consideration, as these matters could be taking center stage and undergo important changes in the coming months.
Mercury enters Capricorn on the 13th and forms a supportive aspect to both Saturn and Jupiter from the 17th to the 19th. A lot of your focus could be going to your schedule and logistics at home and it may be worth your while to plan a proper course of action for the long run. Sorting out your priorities could be vital in this January timing because things will likely accelerate in the coming months.
On January 20th, the Sun and Pluto form a conjunction at the last degree of Capricorn and in the first degree of Aquarius as the two of them enter Aquarius together, only a few hours apart. This in many ways symbolizes the end of an era and the beginning of another that is more focused on your individual needs. The changes now could relate to your family, your living arrangements or centering on a particular place in the world. New things are simmering on the horizon although these changes may only be at their beginning stages right now.
The Leo Full Moon takes place on January 25th in your social sector, illuminating future visons, or perhaps aspirations for your role within a particular community. The Full Moon aspects Jupiter in Taurus, the new planet Haumea in Scorpio, and opposes the Sun and Pluto, newly in Aquarius. This is a powerful lunation, emphasizing your societal contribution, your values, and, potentially, your creative partnerships with others. You may feel a certain amount of tension between your desire for collaboration and a need to branch out on your own. You win when can relax and let the insights flow and the pieces fall where they may.
From the 27th to the 28th the last weekend of January may continue to emphasize responsibilities towards family members and the need to strike a balance between personal goals and collaborations. Mars, ruler of your relationship sector trines trickster disrupter Uranus in your sector of intimacy – as Uranus stations – while Venus, your ruler, in Capricorn, forms supportive aspects to both Saturn in Pisces and Jupiter in Taurus. This may be your cue to take a pragmatic stance when it comes to familial and logistical matters. Much can be accomplished at the end of the month if you can stay focused on the task at hand, namely your ongoing personal evolution.
