There is a January focus on business with you this month, Aries, to include the way that you put yourself out there. This is complicated by the simultaneous retrogrades of Mars, your ruler, continuing from last year, and now, also, Mercury. With Mercury moving backward in your sector of career and professional life it is a thoughtful and introspective month regarding all that you do in terms of public statement. In a year with emphasis on future orientation, your communication is reflective and inner-oriented as you attempt to grapple with finding a better fit between deep personal values and what you do out in the world. Your moral compass is particularly a subject for meditation and course correction as you seek to manifest your most authentic self. Inner wounding is also likely to come up in the month’s opening weeks, and if so, it is a good opportunity to address the pain of early childhood trauma and its affect on current life situations. It is a truism in this regard that what you hide away inside you does not fade but fester, while what you engage with can slowly alter and eventually heal.

The year begins on a dynamic note for members of your sign, with Jupiter, the luckiest planet of them all, having just returned there in the timing of the recent Capricorn Solstice and Christmastime New Moon. Jupiter is therefore extremely prominent, endowing your sign with plenty of opportunities and perspective for the year ahead. If anything there could be almost too much sense of expansion and opportunity – so that you might need to pull in your sense of confidence just a bit. Mars, your ruling planet, is still moving retrograde in Gemini, creating simultaneously a thoughtful time of looking into everything more closely. This applies especially to career and profession, with Mercury now also moving retrograde in Capricorn, and then recovering, through to beyond the end of the month. A career path could need your attention or continue to be in a state of flux. There might be a conundrum to deal with between your skills, what you know, and what you are capable of versus what is required of you at work. if so then February should bring some resolutions on that front.
Yours might be one of the few signs who are actually quite busy in January and things could be brewing for you career-wise or concerning your public life. Mars retrograde in Gemini for the past two months might have made prioritizing challenging and you may have found yourself juggling the many demands or responsibilities being put on you. January could continue to bring a list of things that need your attention however you may feel less compromising with your time, especially for things that are not that important to you.
Venus enters Aquarius on the evening of 2nd enhancing your social setting and your understanding of what it is that you have to contribute to the society that surrounds you.
On the 3rd through the 5th, Venus forms a positive sextile with Jupiter in Aries which could make pleasure and joy even more readily available. There could be a sense of holiday festivities continuing through January’s first week.
The Cancer Full Moon culminates on January 6th in the sector of your chart that relating to your home and your family, making this timing an important marker for domestic matters. This Full Moon could highlight the tension between your personal desires and professional goals, or you may feel that it is rather difficult to reconcile your public and private life. You could feel torn between your need for autonomy versus your desire for security and support. The secret to finding harmony may lie in honoring the requirements of your individual path while also acknowledging your need for safety and foundational support. This day and the next are also one peak moment of the Mercury Retrograde period, so that missed connections or mechanical breakdown could come up.
Mars turns direct in Gemini on the 12th. With your ruler standing dead still in the sky things might go even slower for a little while. Eventually, Mars moving forward again could give you a shift in perspective toward solutions instead of exploratory investigations. It is interesting as well to note that Mercury, ruler of Gemini, is still moving retrograde in Capricorn until the 18th, and then recovering until after the end of the month, so that logistical and technical glitches are not likely to be over.
On the days surrounding the 18th the Sun joins Pluto in Capricorn which should highlight outdated or unsustainable structures that need to be let go of.
The New Moon in Aquarius arrives on January 21st in the sector of your chart that relates to friendships and groups that you favor, along with your visions, your aspirations, and the people who can help you reach them. The New Moon is supported by Jupiter in Aries, making this a good time to set intentions. Venus is applying to conjoin Saturn in Aquarius, and this can highlight the important relationships or people in your life that are there for you. Uranus is also stationing to direct motion in Taurus so that finances might fluctuate or open you up to new perspectives on the material side of life or on your values. In the timing of this New Moon you may be able to get an intuitive hint of what is to come in the near future.
Venus’s entry into Pisces on the evening of the 26th could bring an introspective yet inspirational influence in the coming weeks and if you are a creative person, this period should be fruitful for works of art or simply connecting to the spiritual aspects of your life.
From January 28th to the 30th, the month closes with some supportive influences from the Sun in Aquarius forming a trine with Mars in Gemini and with the new planet Makemake in Libra, which signifies a sense of activism toward things that you would like to see changing in the society. Mercury in Capricorn is also trine with Uranus in Taurus which may bring surprise information or new perspectives in your career or finances.
Recent predicaments or things that may have been problematic in the past few months could become partially resolved through innovative solutions or seeing things from a different angle.
