Saturday’s Full Moon, taking place on September 26th at 9:49 am PDT, afternoon or early evening further east, is another powerful lunation with plenty of outer planet involvement. The Aries Moon at 3 1/2 degrees is closely conjunct numinous Neptune a mere degree away, while the Libra Sun, opposed, lies in a tight grand trine with Pluto in Aquarius and Uranus in Gemini, lending a revolutionary air to the proceedings. Personal development is thus the order of the day as the potent Virgo lunation cycle that began on the 10th continues to unwind, past the end of the current month. Mercury is square Mars, trine the North Lunar Node, and opposite Chiron, while also in a very close opposition with new 21st-century planet Eris, indicating a powerful tendency to think for yourself as you plan your way forward into your next evolutionary stage. Mars, meanwhile, is also well-aspected, quincunx the North Node, square Eris, trine the Aries Moon and Neptune, plus being partile or same-degree square Chiron. This latter aspect indicates that issues of anger and striking back could arise for greater internal recognition and potential healing, to the extent that we can focus on this possibility.
The prominence of Neptune in this Full Moon is extreme and carries several different facets of meaning. There is the potential for confusion or misunderstanding, with even the chance of outright deception being involved. In an entirely other potential reading, there is the possibility of mystical acceptance of difficult circumstances, so that a bigger picture takes precedence over present-tense immediate concerns, providing an opportunity for spiritual growth. There is idealism here, which can also be conceived as perhaps Pollyanna-leaning rose-colored glasses, so that a great deal of discernment must be applied to determine which line to take. It could, of course, wind up being some of both.
The personal planets invoked in this Full Moon configuration include Venus in minor aspect with the Moon and Neptune, also Saturn, so that relationships are involved in all the ways described above, including a higher viewpoint on their purpose in your life as well as the potential for distortion or overly idealistic visions of the possibilities there.
With Chiron also enmeshed in this Full Moon, the potential is there as well for inner wounding to arise, whether in relationships, issues of personal power, or as far as trusting your own intuitional information. This might take the form of ancient trauma that has been buried away coming to the surface as veiled hang-ups that could explode, leading to unconscious behavior that the higher consciousness part of you may regret. The steps to a better relationship with these hidden complexes are, first, to accept them as a perhaps dysfunctional part of you, deserving of love and a place at the table. Second, to reach down to them with your mature awareness, rather than rejecting them, to simply acknowledge their presence and their effects, perhaps by the evidence of feelings of “not good enough” arising for no satisfactory reason within you – that is, simply noticing these effects. Eventually you will learn to discern them coming up and to allow healing to take place within you.
The other fascinating feature of this Aries Full Moon is that new Nature planet Haumea, lying at 3° Scorpio, is partile square Pluto at 3° Aquarius, and closely aspected by the Sun and Moon, which are partile quincunx and semi-sextile this position of Haumea. In my experience in observing these new 21st-century planets over the past several years, such triggering of the ongoing Pluto-Haumea square has shown up as “the truth coming out” in spite of the attempts to conceal it on the part of the politicians.
The other new 21st-century Nature planet, Makemake, is also in the picture in aspect to both Jupiter and Saturn, indicating an upcoming surge in political activism, which we can also see as an important factor now. With prominent Eris, it is indeed time, and past time, for everyone to take a stand and become active for whatever it is that we hold inside as our deepest individual principles and values.
There is the old saying to fall back on, and that certainly seems to aptly apply right now, that “when the going gets tough, the tough get going.” It may be that we will all have to get together, and get tougher, as this climactic 2026 year begins to draw to its close.
