A July Month of Transformation, Revelation, and Spiritual Inspiration

The month of July that we are currently beginning to experience is one that astrologers have long been waiting for, to see how the coming together of Uranus, Pluto, and Neptune, at the very same 4° mark of their respective signs of Gemini, Aquarius, and Aries, will manifest. The kicker is that during the early days of July as well, Jupiter in early Leo and Mars conjunct Uranus in Gemini, materially add energy to the set of outer planet collisions that is the star of the show. Because Neptune resides at the partile midpoint of Uranus and Pluto, so that two same-degree sextiles, to Neptune, from Uranus on one side and Pluto on the other, this configuration – in sequential masculine signs Aquarius, Aries, and Gemini – makes a symmetrical planetary pattern called a “cradle” configuration. The UranusPluto trine is essentially rebellious and revolutionary, looking for a new horizon to conquer, potentially with greater freedom of action and an evolved sense of purpose, while the Neptune presence adds an otherworldly flavor that is idealistically oriented, transpersonal, and spiritually aligned. Because of the intensity of these outer planet exact alignments together with Mars, initially, and Jupiter for the remainder of the month, this month and next are presaged to be very intense and to signify an important turning point in global history.

Interestingly, it was astrologer André Barbault, a renowned mundane astrologer who predicted the Soviet Union’s collapse that took place in the late 1980s, who also called for a significant turning point in world history for this month, specifically on July 19th, when the Moon at 4° of Libra, forms a handle to the cradle, making a “basket” pattern, known to mundane astrologers as Barbault’s Basket, which would trigger the transformational nature of the outer planet cradle alignment. He felt that the ultimate effect would be positive, seeing humanity through to a new dawning, a cultural rebirth.

The July month also has an influence from the Gemini New Moon of June 14th, which initiated the lunation cycle for its first two weeks, when Uranus in Gemini was still coming into its same-degree alignment with Pluto and Neptune, although the cradle pattern is quite close and is triggered in the New Moon by Venus at nearly 2° of Leo. Then, in the subsequent Capricorn Full Moon of June 29th, just before July began, when Mercury additionally stationed to retrograde motion, the cradle is very nearly complete.

In the opening days of July, particularly the 3rd and the 4th, which is America’s 250-year birthday, all three of these outer planets are at the 4° mark, or very close, while Mars closely conjunct Uranus lying at 3° 50’ of Gemini and Jupiter at the 0° mark of Leo are powerful additional triggers for the outer planet alignments. When we consult the USA natal chart, for July 4th, 1776, we see that the Nadir is 2° Aries, with an MC of 2° Libra, completing a grand trine with Uranus and Pluto, while Neptune is conjunct the Nadir. I myself find it fascinating that, at the semi quincentennial of America’s birth, the foundations of its natal chart are being shaken up by such a fierce and yet potentially positive combination of outer planet alignments.

Mercury moving backward through the latter half of Cancer is another defining characteristic of this potent July month, right from its very first day, and extending through the first week of August when you take the post-retrograde shadow period into account. Mercury stations to direct motion on the 23rd and takes another two weeks to escape its shadow period and return to normal. This Mercury Retrograde during July signals an introspective time when we might wind up reviewing, questioning, and potentially seeking to revise many sides of our life situation, depending somewhat on where the sign of Cancer shows up in our natal chart. We could also say that the national mood here in America is similarly affected especially since the retrograde station at 26° Cancer is conjunct the USA Mercury at 24°. We are currently seeing all kinds of reactions in the American media, both more official and alternative, to the existing dysfunction in this country, exacerbated by recent events, and this examination is likely to accelerate over these summer months.

The lunations of July, including the Cancer New Moon of July 14th, the First Quarter Moon of the 21st, and the Aquarius Full Moon of the 29th, closely conjunct Pluto, with the Sun and Jupiter opposed, all constitute important inflection points in a powerful month of recognition and change. It’s not easy to choose among the possible outcomes, although it seems quite likely that something in the political landscape here in the US is about to dramatically shift over these potent summer months and in the remainder of the 2026 year.
