This is another significant month for you, Cancer, opening up a season of refreshed spirituality with an urge for service to others around you. Mercury has been retrograding through your sixth house, representing day-to-day activities and a sense of special mission that you might call an apprenticeship to your higher Self. As you have been mulling over your esoteric responsibilities there, along comes the Sun in this same sector, accompanied by expansive Jupiter. The Sagittarius New Moon of December 6th makes for a celebration of values and beliefs, and a call to action on behalf of these to make a difference in the world around you. The Winter Solstice and the Full Moon in your sign that follows the next day, December 22nd, constitute another noteworthy juncture when partnership is very much in the picture for you, in support of your evolving worldview. You are imbued by a new sense of Spirit moving through everything, including right relationship with important partners as conjured up by Natural Law.
The following was written by this month's guest columnist Adam Elenbaas of The Nightlight Astrology School
The month of December gets started just hours after Venus in Libra in your fourth house of home and family opposes Uranus in Aries in your tenth house of career. It’s likely that disruptions, changes, and innovation at home and work will be toning the month straight out the gate. What comes to you are unusual opportunities, and what is required to take full advantage of these is an open-minded attitude to these, which might turn out after all to be in your best interest.
Meanwhile, the rest of the month features a domino series of transits from planets in your sixth house of work, sickness, and service, squaring Mars and Neptune in your ninth house of faith, long journeys, spirituality, and the higher mind.
It gets started right away, on December 2nd as the Sun in Sagittarius squares Mars in Pisces in the ninth house, bringing themes of hard work, struggling, sickness and misfortune, as well as the desire to serve, in direct connection with themes of faith, learning, and the higher mind. Our spiritual journeys are filled with periods of hard work and service, periods where our endurance and stamina are tested, and the same can be said for anything worth learning or studying. This transit will test your patience and ask you to put your faith into action or to stand strong during the trials or tribulations of a learning or educational journey.
Then late evening on December 6th, continuing into the next day, the New Moon in Sagittarius falls in your sixth house and makes a square to Mars and Neptune’s conjunction in Pisces in your ninth house. As the Moon is your ruling planet, you are going to be feeling this transit more intensely, and it will likely have you fired up to work hard and bring about reforms or changes that align with your higher values and beliefs. It’s a great time to lead a restoral, healing, or renewal project in the workplace, but be careful that you do not exhaust yourself or become a victim of your desire to help or save others. Your beliefs are also in the spotlight right now, and you may be feeling somewhat confused or conflicted about how to act on the inspiration you’re feeling. Trust the process because even if you are feeling temporarily stifled, small efforts made with good intentions right now will lead to a revolution in due time.
On December 20th, the Sun in Sagittarius in your sixth house trines Uranus in Aries in your tenth house of career, goading you to take a stand, or to make sudden changes or to take a new approach to something at work. At the same time, be careful that a defiant or rebellious attitude doesn’t lead to burnout or burnt bridges. A little patience and tactfulness added to the enthusiasm you’re feeling will go a long way.
On December 21st, the Mercury in Sagittarius will conjoin Jupiter in Sagittarius, once again in your sixth house. If you are in the process of hiring people or you manage employees and are dealing with turnover or conflicts with those you employ, this transit may provide you with the clarity, confidence, and direction you need in order to lead and unify the work environment. On the other hand, the subject of teachers and learning is pronounced under the transit. Though the sixth house comes with many challenges to our health and energy levels, Mercury and Jupiter will be handing out free wisdom to go along with whatever challenges you’re facing right now.
Finally, on December 24th, Mercury in Sagittarius in your sixth house will square Neptune in Pisces in your ninth house. This transit brings last month’s Mercury Retrograde full circle, back to the place where it all got started. When things fall apart, and we are tested in mind and body, we have to rely on our faith to pull us through. When we don’t have faith, then we can find our faith by calling out to the Universe for help and guidance and then taking just one step at a time, until we find our way again. It’s actually refreshing to realize that we don’t have all the answers, and it can also be deeply healing when things break down and we are left without a clear strategy. These are the exact moments where a higher form of guidance can easily be summoned. All we have to do is pause and ask for guidance, trusting that we are never meant to have all the answers or to walk the path alone.
Other transits to think about this month include the Winter Solstice in Capricorn on December 21st, which shines a spotlight on your relationships and what practical, earthy support they provide you with, and then the Full Moon on December 22nd, taking place in your home sign and first house of Cancer, which will have you radiating with warmth, emotional sweetness, and sensitivity at the start of a brand new solar year. Also note that in the month to come you will receive your first eclipses in these houses, as well, so stay tuned for more next month!
