Welcome to the creative chaos, Taurus! You are sinking into synchronicity and swooning into the accompanying realization that the world seen in this way presents entirely new vistas and is meaningful to a far larger extent than you would have imagined. There is a strong spiritual component to all that you do right now, and a feeling of service to a larger purpose. Relationship is one name of the game for you right now, although an equally key ingredient is your ongoing development of getting clear on your own deepest values in a way that is totally independent of other voices. You are embracing how to act upon these and thus to become more fully yourself, without being strident or sacrificing the quality of your social interactions. Partners are a significant part of the realignment that you are going through, along with the important realization that this is, after all, and fundamentally, your process.
The following was written by this month's guest columnist Adam Elenbaas of The Nightlight Astrology School
The month of December begins on the heels of Venus’ opposition with Uranus, which took place on November 30th. Now Venus enters Scorpio again after a long retrograde period and will be working its way back through your seventh house of relationships and finishing the healing and transformation work that began in October. The good news is that while there might be some work yet come in the sphere of your relationships this month, you are ready to move forward and receive the blessings and wisdom of the transit.
Meanwhile, all month long the eighth and eleventh houses are activated by a slew of transits. The eighth house is the house of death and rebirth, as well as the house of other people’s money or of benefits that come to us through life’s challenges, whereas the eleventh house is the house of friends, allies, social circles, and dreams or wishes. On December 2nd, the Sun in Sagittarius in the 8th house will square Mars in Pisces in the eleventh house. There is a wealth of wisdom or opportunity available to you but be careful that it doesn’t come at the cost of your integrity or that it doesn’t involve you in unnecessary conflicts with friends or allies.
Similarly, late evening on December 6th, continuing into the next day, the New Moon in Sagittarius falls in your eighth house and makes a square to the Mars/Neptune conjunction in Pisces in your eleventh house. You might find yourself in the unexpected position of receiving some good news, but don’t be surprised if whatever opportunities coming your way are colored by the challenges or misfortunes of your friends or colleagues, or if what you are being given comes with the expectation that you will enter another person’s conflicts or struggles. On the other hand, you could be called upon to mediate a conflict, which may benefit everyone in the end!
On December 20th, the Sun in Sagittarius in your eighth house will then trine Uranus in Aries in your twelfth house. While this transit may energize or awaken you to higher truth, be careful that you aren’t tempted into a display of brute force or reckless defiance.
On December 21st, once again your eighth house is highlighted as Mercury conjoins Jupiter in Sagittarius. There is an exciting moment of wisdom, insight, and learning available to you, but 8th house wisdom will always force you to examine your intentions, or the intentions of those around you before accepting anything as it exists on the surface. Be sure to match enthusiasm and optimism with careful thinking.
Finally, on December 24th, Mercury in Sagittarius in your eighth house will square Neptune in Pisces in your eleventh house, bringing last month’s Mercury Retrograde full circle. In some ways this entire process has been revealing something of the true nature of where you stand in relation to your friends and colleagues. It’s been showing you who your friends are and are not, and what healthy versus unhealthy ambitions look like. You’re now ready to shed the ideas, thoughts, and ambitions that are no longer serving you, but in order to get there you may have to slice through a few lingering illusions or exercise your best critical thinking in order to clarify what you can and cannot commit yourself to.
Other important dates to think about this month include the Winter solstice on December 21st, and the Full Moon in Cancer on December 22nd. These two transits fall across your 9th and 3rd house axis, putting the mind, spirituality, beliefs, communication, and learning or technology in the spotlight. Don’t be surprised if there is some holiday tension in your family or sibling relationships around this time, perhaps especially related to the topics of religion or beliefs, and honor the need you may feel to communicate with greater emotional honesty or vulnerability. Note that in the month to come you will receive your first eclipses in these houses, as well, so stay tuned for more next month!
