This is another wild month for you, Aquarius, especially if you over-value unchanging stability, because there is not much of that in the astrological offerings of this summer timeframe. The Full Moon in Capricorn preceding the advent of July set the stage for close encounters of the underground kind, an enlivening of the deep unconscious process that resides within you, while the ongoing Mars retrograde in your sign lends an introspective flavor to the proceedings. With the July 12th Solar Eclipse, your public persona is off and running, but with a distinct dip to the inside. Being located in your sixth house, this potent juncture represents an urgent call to service that takes inner realities more fully into account. As you experience a refining and a re-visioning of your career objectives, you are on a steep learning curve preparing you to move forward, eventually, with what might actually constitute an entirely new approach to life, love, and your work in the world.
The following was written by this month's guest columnist Adam Elenbaas of The Nightlight Astrology School
This month’s astrology features the ongoing effects of Mars retrograde in your sign, a deeply personal transit for Aquarians right now, giving you the chance to more closely examine issues of identity and underlying motivation. This is triggered by a rather huge lunar eclipse in Aquarius by the end of the month, and also by several other transits along the way!
The month gets kick-started on July 5th when Mercury in Leo in your seventh house opposes Mars retrograde in Aquarius in your first house. How do you communicate your will and your way with those you are closest to without coming across like a tyrant' How do you make your needs clear when others keep demanding to be the center of attention' How do you negotiate with others in a way that is neither domineering nor too passive' These are the questions you are considering as themes related to communication and assertiveness are also being mediated in your most intimate exchanges with others.
Also on July 5th, the Sun in Cancer in your sixth house will trine Jupiter in Scorpio in your tenth house, with Jupiter moving quite slowly, getting ready to turn direct on July 10th. You are being offered an opportunity to serve others or to help restore something that was damaged, or you may be feeling a surge of renewed faith or excitement about your job, or you might even be receiving recognition for hard work done in the past. On a different note, it’s a great time to find support or encouragement in general from mentors and/or co-workers, or to receive sage-like wisdom from a humble source.
On July 9th Mercury in Leo in your seventh house will square Jupiter in Scorpio in your tenth. Career matters are really up for you and may depend in part on partnership interaction. You could find yourself eagerly discussing political, philosophical, or religious viewpoints with others, or you may find that you are at a crossroads regarding your own personal viewpoints and the viewpoints of those you work with, or those you love. Be careful of people that are all talk and no substance or that over promise and under deliver. You may feel like you have to make a big decision or make a bold statement right now, but be sure to consider the ramifications of your decisions. Big promises and big statements often come with more consequences than we’re ready for.
Then on July 12th the first eclipse arrives, in your house of health and service to others. The Sun will oppose Pluto in your twelfth house as the New Moon (a solar eclipse) takes place in your sixth. This eclipse has the power to bring on a very deep level of personal healing. Your unconscious process, which has been trying to get your attention in recent months, is very alive for you now. You may also feel the call to be of service in the world or to pour your heart and soul into your work. It might be the time to address whatever is sick or oppressive in your environment. If there is anything toxic related to your work or conditions in the work place, don’t let them fester, as there is an opportunity presenting itself for lasting and positive changes to be made.
On July 24th, Venus will oppose Neptune across your second and eighth house axis. While this transit is deeply romantic, imaginative, sensual, and artistic, Aquarians should be particularly careful of this one because it has the power to delude you into extravagance or indulgence right on the eve of a powerful, and possibly volatile, eclipse in your first house of identity. The consequences for hazy thinking, careless spending, intoxication, or extravagance could be far higher than you bargain for, so an extra word of caution is worth stating with this transit.
Finally, on July 27th a lunar eclipse, with the Moon conjoined with the South Node and Mars retrograde, takes place in your 1st house. In one sense, the Mars retrograde transit that started last month in your home sign has been building toward this critical moment. If you haven’t been taking care of yourself, this eclipse will force you to start a new chapter in your life that is healthier. If you have been struggling with anger, intensity, or frustration, this eclipse will give you that breakdown or that good cry that you might need in order that you release the pressure, heal, and move on. If you’ve been passively biding your time or hiding your light, this transit will likely force you to take a stand, to act out, or to set a clear boundary. Any time Mars retrogrades in your home sign it’s a clear sign that you are learning a deeper and more mature use of your freedom and your will. You are learning about your own limitations, as well as your own bravery, fortitude, and strength, plus how to be strong without being selfish, how to take a stand without being “anti.” It might be time to address things related to your health that you simply cannot avoid any longer. Remember that eclipses are powerful. In the last analysis, this transit is for you, and it may make you a better person as you surmount whatever challenges it presents!
