Scorpio Horoscope for July 2018

It’s an exciting and potentially productive month that you have coming up, Scorpio, although also a bit rough and tumble. Relationships are important to you now and could well have an influence on your career choices, which are going through an interesting transition, along with much else in your life. This includes your communication style. You are additionally exploring your psychological roots in an entirely new way at this juncture, and this includes issues of home and family. Your dwelling space in remodel or other major change is one factor consistent with this symbolism, peaking by month’s end, while the structure of your family dynamics is another. Your connections with your family of origin could also come up for review, restructuring, and revisioning. Important partners may help with this, although they are all over the place right now with what they have on offer. As your inner world becomes more clear to you, so too do your revised plans and even your worldview.

The following was written by this month's guest columnist Adam Elenbaas of The Nightlight Astrology School

This month’s astrology features two eclipses, affecting your worldview, learning curve, and public statement, plus the continuation of the Mars retrograde in your fourth house of home and family. A series of dynamic transits in concert with these makes one powerful connection after another.

The month gets kick-started on July 5th when Mercury in Leo in your tenth house opposes Mars retrograde in Aquarius in your fourth house. Watch for willful, aggressive, and domineering communication dynamics, especially at home or in the work place, and be careful to read between the lines right now or to speak as authentically as possible. Mercury in Leo is a showman, but Mars retrograde indicates factors lurking deep below the surface pf your personality, perhaps carrying with them a more selfish or extreme set of intentions or expectations.

Then, also on July 5th, the Sun in Cancer in your ninth house will trine Jupiter in Scorpio in your first house with Jupiter moving quite slowly, getting ready to turn direct on July 10th. Watch for themes of restored faith and enthusiasm, rejuvenation and emotional healing. You may also find that you are becoming more deeply absorbed in your spiritual practices or any subject that you are studying, or that you are naturally able to grasp difficult concepts, thereby affecting a change in worldview or communication style. You may be taking up a new path of learning, or considering a long journey or pilgrimage.

On July 9th Mercury in Leo in your tenth house will square Jupiter in Scorpio in your first house. There is an aura of confidence, success, good luck, charm, and social grace surrounding you right now, perhaps especially at work or in the eyes of your superiors at work. It’s a great moment to make an impression, to speak, teach, or negotiate with confidence, but be careful of boastful, proud or self-righteous proclamations, or perhaps the tendency to overestimate yourself or to exaggerate.

Then on July 12th the first eclipse arrives. The Sun will oppose Pluto in your third house as the New Moon (a solar eclipse) takes place in your ninth. Solar eclipses represent the start of something new, and potentially with lasting impact, so that this eclipse in your ninth house points to a fresh start in relation to your beliefs and convictions, to learning or higher education, to long journeys or travel. You might be deciding to go back to school or to deepen your studies of a subject you love, or you may be questioning your own beliefs and convictions, traveling or planning to travel, or searching for new ways to communicate your beliefs to others around you without either hiding your light or overpowering others in the process.

July 18th Mars conjoins the South Node of the Moon in Aquarius in your fourth house of home and family. It’s a great time for home renovation, confronting ancestral shadows, purging or eliminating things from your home or property, or possibly even selling your home or relocating, but you should also be careful of going to extremes right now, as well as conflict or tension in the home. These themes have been present for you and will continue to be present for much of the summer as Mars continues its long sojourn through Aquarius and your fourth house.

On July 24th, Venus will oppose Neptune across your eleventh and fifth house axis. It’s a great time for a creative escape, for being social and for romantic or artistic diversions from your normal routine. You may also notice themes of romance, art, sex and creativity are strong right now. Be careful not to get lost in the glamour and seduction of this transit, which can easily lead to an inability to discern fantasy from reality.

Finally, on July 27th the Sun in Leo opposes Mars in Aquarius at the time of a Lunar Eclipse in Aquarius, across your 10th and 4thhouse axis, while both are square to Uranus in Taurus in your seventh house. There is a very powerful lesson coming through this month surrounding your home, relationships, and work life all at once. However, the epicenter of this eclipse is taking place in your fourth house of home and family, where the continued themes intensify of renovation or releasing, purgation and surrendering. This might mean that family members are sick or in some kind of transition. Or this transit also might that you are doing deep inner work surrounding your childhood or your relation to your father or mother. It is also possible that you are considering selling property or just doing some “deep cleaning” around the house. Because Mars is the traditional ruler of Scorpio and because Mars is conjunct the Moon in this eclipse, this moment is quite personal. Be careful of rigid or extremely impulsive choices, especially those centered around preemptively cutting someone or something out of your life. On the other hand, if you can determine that it’s time for something truly toxic to be removed, then pick up your sword, cut the cord, and don’t look back!
