Aquarius Horoscope for May 2018

You are covering new metaphorical territory this month, Aquarius, but first you must go through a process of sorting out. As Mercury Retrograde winds down, you are reviewing and revising everything that you knew, or thought that you knew, and attempting to determine what fits in with a new paradigm of thought that is slowly emerging into your consciousness. You are now accepting that your creativity depends in a very direct way on what is going on for you behind and beyond the surface layers of your personality. Dreams and daydream imagination contribute much to your present understanding. The second half of May, following the extremely potent Taurus New Moon of May 15th, you are more centered in yourself, and from there launching out for distant horizons and new ways of perceiving and influencing the world around you. As you take your ideas into your next stage you find that you are combining in novel fashion both inner knowing and outer activity.

This month couldn’t be more exciting for everybody, especially yourself, as your ruling planet Uranus changes signs and moves into Taurus on May 15th. As if that weren’t enough, this major transit takes place on the day of a New Moon, just as Mars simultaneously ingresses into Aquarius and squares Uranus. And as if that weren’t enough, we are also still welcoming the entrance of Chiron into Aries (from last month, April 17th). Let’s look at each of these transits in-depth.

Since May of 2010, Uranus has been moving through the sign of Aries in your third house of communication, the mind, learning, siblings, and short journeys. As the planet of disruption, awakening, and liberation, Uranus has been transforming the way you think and communicate for quite a while now. It’s also possible that Uranus in your third house has been affecting the lives of your siblings, or your relationships with your siblings. Now, Uranus is changing signs and moving into your fourth house of home, family, and property, and your psychological roots, this indicates that you are about to undergo some major changes there, on the home front. This transit can manifest in terms of sudden events of awakenings, deaths, or upheavals in your family or for you personally, disruptions in the lives of relatives, in connection with moving, buying or selling property, or being awakened to the depths of your family karma or to psychological issues related to home and family. Uranus like the other classic outer planets is ultimately an energy that offers us profound liberation and expanded awareness.

Although some of these Uranian experiences may be unsettling, you are no stranger to the eccentric and rebellious energy of Uranus, as it is considered the modern-day “ruler” of Aquarius.

Meanwhile, last month the planet Chiron entered your third house, bringing an entirely new energy into the sector of mind, learning, communication and siblings. Chiron is known as the “Wounded Healer,” and is generally associated with our wounds and the wisdom related to our wounds. Chiron brings a much more stable energy into your third house, compared to the kind of activity Uranus has been stimulating over the past eight years. You are now going to be working on the healing of some deeper wounds or past traumas related to your mind, speech, and communication. As an Aquarius you are naturally passionate about intellectual ideas or your philosophical views. However, if you struggle at all with impatience, irritability, or harshness in your words or thoughts, then Chiron will begin offering you opportunities to explore and heal some of these issues. You may find that new teachers, mentors, or learning opportunities are entering your life, or you might find that you are ready to mature or take a big step forward as a teacher or healer in your own right.

Finally, the same day Uranus is moving into Taurus, May 15th, there is also a New Moon in Taurus in your fourth house, and the planet Mars will simultaneously enter Aquarius, squaring Uranus into the 16th of the month. The New Moon adds to the brand-new energy of Uranus moving into your fourth house of home, family and property. Meanwhile, Mars entering your first house points to a critical new beginning, or possibly a change or challenge regarding your health. The ingress of Mars into your first house will be directly correlated to and amplifying the transformative power of Uranus as it enters your fourth house. It’s therefore a big month for Aquarians, with the middle of the month highlighted as a particularly powerful time!
