This month is another strong one for you Scorpio, when you are exploring life and love in a new way, with emphasis on using the resources that you have more effectively. The key is depth researches uncovering greater awareness regarding your psychological roots. The underworld of the psyche is little known or recognized, but is the wellspring of much of your actual behavior, so that it pays to better understand it. You are thus also reaching out with greater focus and intentionality in communicating with important partners regarding your needs and desires. This is also enables your efforts to be in greater alignment with soul intention, the only game in town, as noted astrologer Alan Oken likes to say. This month of January is pivotal for you in achieving these deeper goals that are intrinsically spiritual in nature, re-inventing yourself at the dawn of 2018 to become the best version of you that you can possibly arrive at.

Happy New Year, Scorpio! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday season and that you are feeling renewed and ready for a powerful year ahead. This month gets started with the recent ingress of Saturn into Capricorn, which happened just as we passed through the gateway of the winter solstice a few weeks ago. Whenever a planet changes signs in Sun Sign horoscopy it also changes houses. Saturn has thus entered your third house of siblings, communication, and the mind to stay for the next two to three years.

Saturn in your third house is a sign that you are growing and maturing or becoming more serious both mentally and intellectually right now, or that you are becoming more serious and committed to something you are studying, learning, or teaching. Saturn in the third house might indicate important changes in the lives of your siblings or regarding your sibling relationships. Saturn in the third house is great overall for teachers, writers, learning, and education, as Saturn offers focus, discipline, wisdom, and commitment and is one of the traditional symbols of the “elder.” At the same time, it’s not uncommon with Saturn in the third house to be just a little too serious, conservative or severe with your thinking or communicating. Perhaps the best benefit of this transit for Scorpios is the fact that Saturn in an Earth sign in the house of the mind can create a real sense of security and grounding amidst the otherwise very emotional and charismatic transit of Jupiter’s through Scorpio in your first house (which lasts most of 2018).

The first of the month will feature a Full Moon in Cancer in your ninth house of religion, beliefs, foreign places and long journeys. You may find yourself evaluating your spiritual wants and beliefs at this time, or you might be receiving direction from your dreams. It’s a good time to find emotional fulfillment while traveling abroad, or you might be planning for a future vacation. The Cancer Full Moon will be opposite Saturn in Capricorn in your third house, which will highlight the tension between your religious beliefs and desire for an emotional connection to something bigger than yourself versus on the other hand your need for serious, sober, rational, thinking.

On January 6th, Mars will conjoin with Jupiter in Scorpio in your first house. This is an invigorating and inspiring transit that may have you feeling fired up, passionate, aggressive, enthusiastic, and inspired. Mars and Jupiter conjunctions have long been associated with the military and athletes, crusaders and missionAries. It’s not unusual to feel powerful and confident around this time, but don’t forget that pride cometh before a fall. It might be easy to overdo things right now or to be too aggressive or to act a little too impulsively. At the same time, it’s a great transit for starting a new project, starting a new exercise or health regiment, or confronting someone or something that needs to be confronted.

On January 10th, Mercury will enter Capricorn and immediately conjoin with Saturn in your third house. It’s a good time to sign or negotiate the terms of an agreement, to purchase or change vehicles or to upgrade tech stuff. It’s also a good time to have a serious and sober conversation with someone, or to commit yourself more seriously to a path of study, research, or writing. You may also receive an important or serious piece of news around this time, perhaps related to your home, siblings, or family.

January 16th is the date of the Capricorn New Moon, also taking place in your third house, and in conjunction with Venus. Communication, curiosity, and learning all come up for you quite strongly with implications for a fresh start in these areas.

On January 17th, Venus will enter Aquarius and enter your fourth house of home and family. It’s a great time for turning your house into a romantic getaway, for hosting and deepening relationships with friends and relatives, or for shutting yourself away somewhere, perhaps with a lover for a winter vacation. Venus in your fourth house may also have you changing your living situation, home art collection, or the general aesthetic of your home. Venus in Aquarius in your fourth house can also show up as the loveable black sheep of the family. Embrace the quirkiness and warmth of this transit in your home house and don’t be afraid to let the freak flag fly!

On January 26th, Mars will enter Sagittarius and move into your second house of money and resources. It’s a great time to put energy into things that may become fruitful or financially successful in the future, but beware of impulsive spending or risk taking around this time, as well. As a Scorpio, you will always be good at sensing where there is danger or risk, but at the same time you may be overly protective and therefore too cautious when it comes time to take a healthy risk. With Jupiter in your first house this year, it’s a good year to “go for it,” and to trust the calling that you are feeling deep down in your heart.

Finally, the Lunar Eclipse and Full Moon of the 31st in your tenth house of career and profession is likely to be responsible for quite an emotional stir, cementing the sentiment that you have been recently feeling toward right action and right livelihood. This time can be confusing as well as idealistic. To make the best choices now you need to trust in your intuition, plentiful this month and more likely to steer you true than all the logic that your hard-working mind can possibly muster.
