Aries Horoscope for December 2017

This is another month of twists and turns, Aries, a transitional time that will benefit you greatly if you can stay open to the messages that the universe is sending you. Partners in particular are the subject of deep reflection as well as your basic beliefs, and your attempt to more fully understand your deeper motivations. Travel plans might go awry, while you are simultaneously reviewing your worldview and your educational prospects. The possibilities for unexpected enlightenment continue. The world is very much with you, yet you are being encouraged to pay the closest possible attention to all forms of unconscious process; your dreams are important, and you benefit from keeping a journal handy by your bed, to note down the hints you could receive about the direction that life is taking you. You are on a freight train, bound for your next stage, and it goes better when you can acknowledge this simple and inescapable fact.

The following was written by this month's guest columnist Adam Elenbaas of The Nightlight Astrology School:

For those born under the sign of the Ram, 2017 will not be leaving quietly. The month begins with several transits that will set the tone for the entire month. First, Mars in Libra opposes Uranus in Aries across your first and seventh house axis, while Jupiter in Scorpio and Neptune in Pisces are trine to one another between your eighth and twelfth houses, and then Mercury is stationing and turning retrograde in a conjunction to Saturn in Sagittarius in your ninth house. Let’s take a look at each of these transits, in-depth.

Mars in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries across the first and seventh house axis. The first house is the house of self, health, and new beginnings, and the seventh house is the house of marriage and relationships. So, here’s what to watch for:

  • Conflicts in relationships
  • Diplomatic challenges and resolutions
  • The need to be you, at all costs
  • Defiance and compromise, what’s the right balance?
  • Separation, severing, or leaving relationships
  • Confrontation, activism, fighting for a cause
  • Sudden, unexpected changes in the life of a partner or significant other
  • Advocating for someone or something
  • The way of the peaceful warrior
  • The power couple
  • Creativity in relationships
Remember, you’re a child of Mars, but this month Mars is in Venus’ sign in the house of relationships. A little tact or a little more patience can go a long way, even when you’re in the right or even when you’re fighting for something virtuous or noble.
Next, Jupiter in Scorpio in your eighth house is trine to Neptune in Pisces in your twelfth house. The eighth house is traditionally the house of other people’s money or shared resources, inheritance, death, debt, penalties, fears and worries about the future, and the twelfth house is traditionally the house of loss, illusion, self-undoing, and the dark night of the soul. Here’s what to watch for:

  • Opportunities for spiritual renewal through loss, through mistakes or shortcomings, or through facing our fears
  • The temptation to go into debt or to spend too much, or to overdoing something
  • Receiving a windfall, inheritance or financial blessing or support that helps you to get out of a difficult situation
  • Finding trust in the face of the unknown
  • The silver lining that appears when you need it most
  • The imagination and inspiration that grows in the darkness
  • Pride, exaggeration, and delusions of grandeur
  • A teacher that helps you to understand your shadows
  • A retreat into silence, the afterlife, the underworld, the great beyond

Next, Mercury is stationing in a conjunction with Saturn in Sagittarius to start the month, and will then turn retrograde in your 9th house. The 9th house is traditionally the house of spirituality, mysticism, religion, law, politics, philosophy, higher education and long journeys. Here’s what to watch for:

  • A revision or reconsideration of beliefs, philosophies, or educational goals
  • A deep commitment to a principle, belief, dogma, or doctrine
  • Finding a teacher, school, or path of learning
  • A change of travel plans or a commitment to travel in the future
  • A difficult encounter in a foreign country
  • An auspicious or transformative encounter while traveling, perhaps between an older and younger person
  • A return or recommitment to an old belief or practice
  • A dogmatic or hardened perspective is challenged or changed
  • Faith-based initiatives
  • Realism and faith traveling together
  • A breakdown of technology or the emergence of a new technological structure or infrastructure
  • Being held accountable for your beliefs or lack of clearly defined values
