The Gifts of Venus in Relationship: Learning to Love Ourselves

Because February tends to be a time when we are reminded of love, romance, and the nature of our relationships, it's an appropriate time astrologically to check in with the celestial governess of love and beauty, namely Venus.

Right now Venus is making her way through the practical and structure-loving realm of Capricorn, and is recovering from her recent intense conjunction there with Pluto, lord of depth and transformation. This aspect indicates that angst and desire have been stirring the partnership pot, bringing up challenge, breakthrough and core triggering around relationship, along with issues of self-love and self-worth. Now, while Venus is trine to the practical positivity of Jupiter in Virgo, we have the opportunity to rewrite the story about how we experience our closest personal connections. With self-love as the foundation, new potentials can be birthed through each one of us. When we grant ourselves permission to love ourselves more deeply, we expand our capacity to receive love from others, to attract abundance, and to sustain joy and harmony in our lives.

Today the Moon in Pisces in aspect with Venus and Jupiter reminds us of all this, and affirms that the relationship answers that we seek might be felt and understood most accessibly through our feelings and emotions, rather than our minds. The Moon is conjunct Chiron, the Wounded Healer, opposite expansive Jupiter, and sextile Venus. If you can sit with the places within yourself that feel ashamed, guilty, or unworthy of love, and not flinch or look away, you have achieved half the battle.

Can you bring love and acceptance to those deeply hurt and forgotten pieces of yourself? Can you witness the beauty to be found in even the most painful places within you, as well as the joyful ones? It is often from our deepest pain that our greatest gifts arise. Simply feeling the emotions that are there, instead of pushing them away, can be incredibly cleansing and healing. You might be able to discover the capacity to offer forgiveness ? for yourself, and for others.

It helps to remember that you are not alone. This configuration engenders a potent opportunity to bring love and higher resource to the places within you that are hurting. And we all can know and deeply recognize that as we foster our ability to love ourselves, we carry that medicine inside, to offer up in loving connection to those we cherish most.
