Any tendency toward reactivity in the face of circumstances beyond your immediate control is one of those issues that you would perhaps like to get a better handle on, knowing that it derails actual personal intimacy with important others in your life. You might yet have in the past despaired of ever making significant progress on these types of issues, because so deeply buried within you, behind long-standing barriers to conscious sympathy and acceptance. Just as you can decide to extend your hand in friendship to someone you thought was upset or out of touch, you can also reach out to these difficult places within you in need of your conscious attention.
