On Friday, November 20th, the feminine and connection-oriented archetype of Venus located in Libra makes a hard square aspect to the deeply transformative energy of Pluto in Capricorn. Venus is quite significant now, at the beginning of her new synodic cycle with the Sun. The implication is that as we search below the surface layers of our relationship dynamic, this part of ourselves could drastically alter, pushing us into successive stages of transformation and regeneration. Pluto, approaching the halfway point of its 14+ year journey through the willful and determined sign of Capricorn has been an important signifier of the fundamental and potent transformation occurring this decade for each one of us, individually, and for our planet. Pluto's planetary influence is concerned with ongoing cycles of death and re-birth, and with larger evolutionary patterns of power and change, as an agent of deep regeneration. As he travels through Capricorn, which is an archetype concerned with foundational qualities and groundedness, we are experiencing profound and fundamental shifts, both individually and collectively.
This day, in addition to Venus making an exact square to Pluto, our luminous Sun at 28 degrees of Scorpio is marking, almost exactly, the midpoint between them. Thus we could experience a tension between the Venusian desire to hang on to our worldly attachments, and connections, to all that we've created and cherish so deeply, and the contrasting surrender that is required in order to remain in Pluto's powerful flow of the cycles of life, death, and rebirth. And we might be able to recognize that both of these are equally valid and true. It is valuable to pursue and cherish that which we hold most dear, and it is also important to loosen our grasp and let ourselves flow with the currents of life.
This powerful mini-T-square marks a suggestion, prompting us to look very closely into that which we most desire and value, especially in terms of relationships. Rather than clinging to these out of fear of someday losing them, we might be inspired to offer them up to a force greater than ourselves. We honor the wisdom of the universe by proclaiming our heart's deep devotion and love of life, while allowing ourselves to trust what comes. You win when you accept and welcome all of that which is arising within you, without undue fear or judgment, while simultaneously striving for your heart's desire, without obsession. Your challenge and opportunity in these trying times is this: that you accept that you are where you are, in the midst of a global community with a multitude of troubling and dire circumstances, while holding hope in your heart and the willful fire in your belly to heal yourself — and by your commitment to change, to heal your planet also.
