Mercury Retrograde: A Time To Let Life Flow

That time is upon us again — Mercury is stationing retrograde at the fourth degree of Cancer tomorrow, Saturday, at 4:57am PST. At the moment of its retrograde, Mercury is also making an almost exact parallel to the Sun and another to expansive Jupiter plus a close square with the Moon. This is telling regarding the potential impact this station of Mercury could have on our overall vitality, faith, and emotional states of being. Mental energies become turned inward now, as they already have been trending in the days leading up to this event. Mercury's absence from normal steadiness could result in communication and mechanical breakdown, which is one hallmark of this time. These intrinsic challenges of the Mercury Retrograde period, however, comprise only one way to look at this astrological phenomenon, which can also be viewed as a wonderful time to contemplate more deeply your inner purpose, and to focus less on external events, and more on how you respond to them. While it is generally not a good time to begin anything new, it is a great time to review, re-organize and re-negotiate. This particular retrograde period may be especially focused on re-examining your habitual thought patterns, specifically in regard to your orientation to inner faith; perhaps you might be inclined to reflect on your trust in the process of life. We are reminded that inner peace may be cultivated by emotional flexibility and attunement to the varying vibrations that make up the symphony of life, rather than struggling against them. As Lao Tzu so eloquently put it, centuries ago, "Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes." We do better when, rather than resist we accept, and when rather than attempting to direct life's flow, we simply and naturally allow it to happen.
